标题: 一个关于修饰的问题，弄了好久都没弄懂，求各位解答！
A of B, which...... 的结构里，which到底修饰A还是修饰B,为什么我在两本书里看到的不一样
在曼哈顿里有一句例句 The box of nails, which is nearly full, belong to Jean. 里它说nail 和which都是修饰box的。
但是在CD出的语法书里，有一句是 The intricate structure of the compound insect eye, which has hundreds of miniature eyes,helps explain scientists' assumption 里说which修饰insect eye。
这样两个不是冲突了吗？which应该是怎么修饰的？求各位大神帮忙解答！！！在线等

The box of nails, which is nearly full, belong to Jean。
这句里的nails不加the，说明不需要解释，所以which修饰the box

The intricate structure of the compound insect eye, which has hundreds of miniature eyes,helps explain scientists' assumption
这句子里的insect eye前边有the，这时候which引导的非限制性定语从句，一般修饰相邻的词汇，以避免歧义。

说白了就是会不会歧义，如果就一个特定名词，就直接修饰，如果两个，就就近咯。

我是这么理解的，等大神二度解释。

和the没关系吧，which应该是指代make sense的最近的词/词组。

The box of nails, which is nearly full, belong to Jean. 常识可以判断which是指代box的，只有box才能full，钉子不行。另外单复数也可以判断。
The intricate structure of the compound insect eye, which has hundreds of miniature eyes,helps explain scientists' assumption 里说which修饰insect eye. 常识判断which指代的是compound eye而不是structure，因为structure不能has many miniacture eyes
