I just finished the interivew with a very nice alumnus. Hope you guys have good chances!
Hi prelude!
It's a pleasure reading your post regarding your cornell interview! You must perform very well during it!
Since I also got an invitation and will schedule mine in HK (w/ Ms. Julia Xu) as well. Thus, I would like to ask for your kindly help on sharing some valued points about the interview!
I've read some articles talking about Cornell interview in BW forum. Besides the general ones such as "Why MBA? Why Cornell?Leadership experience?", is there anything special or you feel impressive or difficult during your interview? I also heard that there might be some quiz for evaluating your "problem solving skill"..Do you have any idea about it?
Sorry for asking so many questions and do look forward to meeting you in Cornell this Sep!
谢谢您的分享
I interviewed w/ adcom so it may be different. For what it is worth, I didn't get any trick question. It's more like a conversation so you shouldn't stress out. The only thing that caught me off-guard was when she asked me to "name a weakness in my application". Note she didn't ask me about a weakness about myself, which I was prepared to answer. Anyway I was surprised since all my stat are well above Cornell's average and rest of my application stack up as well. So I wasn't sure what exactly she was hinting at (that I didn't score 800 on the GMAT?) Also be ready to answer what other schools you applied and why. You should know that your interviewer has no access to your whole file except the resume. Good luck!

Thank you!!!! And is it possible for you to share your answer for the "application weakness" with us? This question is kind of fresh to me....and really don't know what they expect to hear???
oh, I total stumbled on the "weakness of my application" question. I didn't come from a business background, so I came up w/ something like I don't have enough finance/marketing training or what else. Then my interviewer said many applicants didn't exactly have business background and that's why we want an MBA and she didn't see it as a weakness (which means my answer didn't convince her at all!). But she let it go and went onto something else. My guess is since she didn't see the rest of my application, she didn't know my stats, and it was a routine question for her to ask and wasn't meant to be a trap. But in case you have a weakness (eg. low GPA), this is the time to mention it and also say how you have compensated it (eg. high GMAT)
Besides the usual questions, they can really ask anything about you. So just focus on the typical questions and be ready to come up w/ answers on the spot. Good luck! I hope you get the good news soon.

Really appreciate for your help and suggestion!!!
hi arcare,
I did my interview in Hk and it went quite well. I interviewed with the other girl from trading. Julia's from Deutsche's equity research-----> My guess is that DB takes quite a significant amount of johnson grads. Interview questions were fairly easy....just make sure you go over your resume and the usual why this and why that questions. Be prepared to talk about other schools that you're applying to. I think it has something to do with yield rates. haha. Best of luck.

Hi prelude!
Thanks for your feedback! I've completed mine last week. Just like what you mentioned, the questions were all general ones...no surprise throughout the interview...and only took 30 mins...
hope everything is fine loh!
还没消息,估计今年没戏了!
My status is also "Not Available". If called for an interview, does the status change from "Not Available" to "Interview"?
Please let me know, how this ones goes. Did the status for the interviewed ever change to "Not available" or was is all the time "Currently under review"? I am worried. Please help.
Thanks
Don't worry too much. it will be ok.
My status just became "Under review"
My status was "currently under review" and now changed to "Not available"...it did not go to "interview stage". I am the second round applicant. did ur review ever changed to "Not available" and what was it when u were called for interview?
You application is for the 3rd round. Hence it makes sense that your application is "Still under review". I am not sure how the R2 applicants feel about this.
我的status一个月前还是currently under review, 后来变成not available直到现在, 没有收到cornell任何邀请去面试的电话或email
看来咱们同命相连啊!
The status of Cornell is updating all the time. If you have "not available", be patient.
"Under review"--"Not Available", then got interview invitation via email, --"Interview requested", arrange the interview--"interview scheduled"--after interview, to "under review"--then "not available" --at the exact day of decision deadline, got the call for admission--"Accepted"
Hope the informaiton helps. Waiting is painful and Cornell does not give any hints before the decision deadline. But take easy, be patient. That's a game.
Hi
Thanks a lot bluemunich. The information provided was indeed a relaxing one. But yeah, I have to admit that the waiting is "pain in the ****". A lot of patience is required in such stages. As the deadline (March 31st) comes closer and no email about the interview from Cornell, makes me loose confidence. My presumption is that if i do not recv an interview call today (friday), then it is over, as the interviews are conducted during weekends, and this is the last weekend. And on april 1st there wud be a sweet email, staing that, my applctn has not been thru....yucks...the very thought is scary ..but hey, thats life.
Thanks once again for the information.
