题目这句话含义是：在短短的3％细胞的DNA中，包含了人体细胞中发现的5万至10万不同基因编码的所有信息。
虽然前面有数字，但是这些基因编码是需要特指的，是确定的这些基因；而不是想侧重表达基因数量。
就像是：
“你有3个苹果”
“你拥有的这3个苹果”
区别能体会出来吧？

其次，我觉得D选项50,000 to 100,000 of human cells' different genes表述有歧义：50,000 to 100,000这里可以理解为描述human cells。
比如：老师对班级说：Only two of your papers are nicely done.

50,000 to 100,000 of... refers to any 50,000 to 100,000 of...
the 50,000 to 100,000 of... refers to particular 50,000 to 100,000 of genes..

MERELY is a adv, can not modify a noun.
