1、因为回答中有should表示的虚拟语气，意思是应该做而没有做。所以理解可以是应该带钱包付帐。钱包指cash。

2、landlord跟owner可以是一个意思。不过这里owner是指想要去租的appartment的owner，而landlord是指以前住过的房东。谈话是讲可以向以前的房东要一个推荐信给想去租的appartment的owner。
