并且，曾经记得波波说过may不够书面，可是这里所有选项都用到了这个词，是不是出现了其它表示“可能”的词可以根据这点排出含“may”的选项？

不可以，如果it是形式主语，它只能指代不定式或that从句，不能指代实义名词。
may是个标准的书面语，楼主可能把may和maybe搞混了。maybe是口语词汇。
名词还是动名词是GMAT的一个考点，我印象中trying从来没有对过。
878里面的trying不在划线里面，不能算做考点，只能参考，所以OG里也说"Although an “-ing” verb such as trying can sometimes be used as a noun,"来让步一下。

那么这个可不可以提升到“基本上所有的动名词都不能做主语”这个高度上来并作为一个规则使用啊？根据这点的话就可以直接杀掉C和E了。

“基本上所有的动名词都不能做主语”不能作为一个规则来使用，动名词强调状态和动作，名词强调结果！The+doing可以使得doing名词化。
动名词可以做主语（OG的例子改编）：The spliting of the continents happened housands of years ago.
另有：the rising of the moon, 可以做主语强调正在上升，至于rise做名词做主语的情况就太多了！
To do也是可以作为主语的，而且ETS认为to do具有某些名词的特性（具体事哪道题的解释忘了）
to do is to do的句型很多啊！

想问一下，看见前人都在讨论C的问题。我是想问下E, 按照大全注释的说法，E是犯了effectiveness的问题，but 我认为E较A好在它与后半句未划线部分形成对称关系，后半句说this process ，那么前面也应该是名词性质才对吧？E就很好的做到了这点啊？！！！

恩，我刚看这个题也在E上想了好一会，考虑到对称－如LS所说。
但是，E中Recovering是个进行时，句意讲到是未来的动作，
并且 to try to do Recovering。。。，
有问题的地方太多了，也就是犯了 不清晰简洁的毛病。
再看看A，就好多了
关于对称，在原句中要求不明显，得先考虑选项是否有大问题
不知道这样想对不对
