P.S. " I saw this sentence in a famous journal. " it 是什么意思啊, so weird 结构!

With my efforts to figure out, I guess the aboriginal sentence beneath.

"In the past ,(that)the PRC threatened Taiwan violence should depart from the status quo...suggests that (that) the

PRC would now consider Taiwan using force should cling to..."

The hyperbaton was used,but I don't know weather it is reasonable in standard E.

Wait for further decipherment...

这里的虚拟条件句使用了should倒装，而且连用了两次。

In the past, the PRC threatened violence if T should depart from the status quo. The 2000 white paper, however, suggests that the PRC would now consider using force if T should cling to the present system.

意思是，在过去，如果台湾想改变现状，中国威胁使用武力。可是，2000年的白皮书表明，如果台湾想保持现状，中国会考虑使用武力。

PS. 这个should虚拟条件句倒装在GMAT SC和RC里是一个考点, 一定要看得懂哦...
