我的问题是，为什么在答案D中，"so that they can" 里的 they 没用代词指代不清的问题。我觉得在语法上和意义上，they 都可以指代"employers" and "workers". 所以我觉得D不好。

请指教！

ford GG说的有道理，they确有指代不清的问题，但在这题中，Ｂ so as to只能用于简单句，用于此处更不恰当。因此，只能退而求其次，选Ｄ。

最主要的是so as to的前后逻辑主语必须保持一致。

care for sick or newbom children的主语应该是workers，而provide的主语是employers

前后主语不一致，只能用so that

答案是比较除来的.除了d都有致命的错误.而d虽然they可能有歧异,但是5个选项中最好的.

关于代词指代,建议不要当作最先排除原则,因为从og中就可以看出,ets自己一会觉得代词指代有歧异,一会又没有歧异就象这题.

根据白勇,代词优先指代主语中心词,然后宾语中心词,最后是修饰语中心词
