答案选C，想问下B中如果假设别的地方都是对的，只是省略which was的话是对的吗。

个人认为，这里的省略which是不妥的，因为这样是用状语替代了从句，修饰对象完全发生了改变，从句 which was 的修饰针对的是Roman Colosseum，而如果只用状语 known 那么它的修饰就指向了主语Construction，这样的话逻辑意思会产生错误。所以这里还是定语从句比较合理。

C选项中去掉which was也是对的，都是非限定定语从句修饰逗号前的XX嘛

我记得之前Baby大神说过动词-ed形式可以修饰前面紧邻的名词。现在好疑惑，anyway，谢谢解答

没太看懂你的问题，不过我可以解释一下B为什么不对：
首先，which was是不可以省略的，只有加上which was，才代表修饰的是其紧邻的名词Roman Colosseum；没有了which was，则变成修饰前面的主语，即Construction。
其次，注意到第二个逗后后面的部分，B用的是begun这个过去分词，则变成修饰主语Construction的短语了，那么and前面的句子没有了谓语。而C选项用的began，是正确的，是and前面这个句子的谓语。
至于你说大神说动词ed形式可以修饰前面紧邻的名词，那一定是前面只有这一个名词，而不是像此题这样带有两个名词的所属格形式。比如：Einstein, know as a famous scientist。这里的动词过去式是在修饰前面紧邻的名词。

谢谢回答，我明白begin的那部分，只是对which was能不能省略有疑问。假如没有which was 且officially known之前是个从句的话，那么known是修饰前面从句的主语还是末尾的名词呢？

请问一下，我有一点没明白为什么which was是要修饰roman colosseum而不是construction？
