标题: 主动还是被动，还是省略？
我从大全里找出了3个句子，都是正确答案:

1. Sunspots, vortices of gas associated with strong eletromagnetic activity, appear on the surface of the sun as dark spots, although never sighted at the sun's poles or equator.  (were never sighted)

2. Most energy analysts now agree that the costs of building and maintaining nuclar reactors are so high that nuclear power is unlikely to prove cheaper than coal or oil in the long run. (to be proven)

3. The man was always aware, sometimes proudly and sometimes resentfully, that he was a small-town Midwesterner thrust into a world dominated by wealthier, better-educated and more polished people than he.  (being thrust)

我想问的是，为什么括号里的相对应的被动的说法都不对？  这种转化成主动有什么规律吗？

1. although never were never sighted...
有了谓语动词were而变成一句话，although不是连词不能连接两个句子，所以错；

2. 用costs来prove：核能不比coal or oil便宜，所以不能用被动；

3. a small-town Midwesterner (who) thrust into a world...
省略了who，不能是被动

总结：没有规律，按照句子的意思来理解，到底是哪种语序能最简洁直接地表达句意。
