大家好，
从南加州向各位正在申请路上奋斗的兄弟姐妹问好。
UCSD Rady 是一所正在大步前进的新商学院，近几年受到越来越多的人关注，新一轮的申请已经开始，我们这些天来收到很多关于Rady学院信息和申请流程的问题，所以我们Full timeMBA 2015 & 2016 的学生决定在这里开贴答疑，为正在申请和打算申请Rady的人解答问题，也希望能让其他的同学在看到我们的帖子后，开始考虑Rady这样一所特点鲜明的商学院。
Rady项目简介
Rady School of Management （UCSD）建于2003年，是为了满足各行业对创新的需求而成立的一所新型商学院。Rady 从建校开始就将自己的使命定位于：
帮助有激情的创业家建立创新的，对社会有积极影响的公司，也为已成立的公司输送有创新头脑和创业家精神的高级管理人才
Rady目前共有三个MBA项目
项目特点:
小班授课：
所有项目的人数都有限制，对于一些体验式的课程（比如一个戏剧导演教授沟通和演讲的课），甚至会再划分为更的小班，保证Rady的每一位同学都能充分享受学院的资源，同学之间有更亲密的关系，相互支持，帮助，同学间最后组成创业团队的情况非常普遍。
创业：

除去帮助同学创办新的公司，Rady也培养在各个行业，各个规模的公司中的人才在所在公司进行各类创新，无论是产品开发, 市场，供应链，还是团队管理，都鼓励改变传统，另辟蹊径，通过不断创新提高效率，建立公司内部的创新文化。
课程：
Rady最有特点的课程 Lab toMarket，历时一年，同学们在这一年中寻找筛选自己的创业idea, 在老师，学校，外部创业导师的帮助和指导下，将其转化为创业公司。有些同学就是为了这个课程而来到Rady.
World Class 师资：
虽然年轻，但Rady从建校初就将目标定位于成为一所TOP商学院，在教授选拔方面严格要求，每位老师不是在学术方面造诣很深，就是拥有丰富的行业经验，对Finance感兴趣的同学来说就更幸福了，会有Nobel 经济学奖得主 Markowitz亲自授课。Business week 最新的2014 Full time MBA Ranking 中，Rady 在Intellectual Capital方面排名全美第一，Finacial time Global MBA Ranking中， Rady在faculty research 排名 全球17.

中国学生：
2015届大陆护照学生 6 人， 来自Start-up，Hightech, Education，Investment和家族企业。
2016届因为总人数比15届稍扩张，大陆来的同学有所增加，有14人，背景也很多元，中国同学中有自己公司已达一定规模的创业者, 有牛津PHD，博后的Scientist, 有高考状元，北大的学霸，国有银行经理，咨询行业美女，华为的产品经理，有辞职下海的公务员，北影的才女编剧，有家族企业继承人，还有几位四大的小伙伴。
奖学金:
Rady在奖学金方面是比较慷慨的，绝大多数同学都拿到半奖及以上的奖学金，优秀的candidate可以拿到全奖。

关于排名
专门提出排名，是因为看到之前很多同学对Rady的排名的讨论和顾虑，虽然我们认为fit比Ranking更重要，但也想为Rady的现状和发展做出说明。

商学院的排名需要过去几年的入学，就业等数据，Rady 最近一两年才开始陆续进入各大排名，大家可以从数据中可以看出，Rady虽然很新，但进步飞快，US News去年才进排名，第一次排名#73，今年上升13位来到#60，Bloomberg Business Week 商学院2年一次排名，Rady今年第一次计入排名，就位列#51，Financial Time Global MBARanking， 2013年首次计入排名，就位列TOP 100，今年上升11位来到#84 。
除去商学院的排名，商学院所在的学校对于商学院的支持和发展的作用是非常巨大的，Rady的发展也得益于UCSD强大的研究实力和校友资源，Rady已经开设了与UCSD工程学院和医学院学院的合作创业项目，帮助将这些学院的Facuty 和同学研发的产品推向市场。

因为UCSD是基本上所有IT公司的target school, 每年秋季UCSD的招聘会，Google, Facebook, Apple, Twitter, Amazon, Hp, IBM， 等等都会来，主办场地就在Rady对面，你可以在这个招聘会上就投简历。此后再来RADY的我记得有HP和Amazon。

关于supply chain/operation这个方向的就业数据我还没有，现在是感恩节假期，学校没有人，等下周我了解到情况再回复你。
不过我知道，对于operation方面，Rady是很强的，在MIT SLOAN’S ANNUAL OPERATIONS SIMULATION COMPETITION 中，Rady拿了过去5年的3次第一，请做参考。

个人非常喜欢圣迭戈这个地方，关于学校想问几个问题，恳请lz可以解答下，谢谢
1、本人家里是做medical device的，所以想问问Rady healthcare方面强不强，希望从课程和位置、就业考虑
2、现在申请12.1这轮也来不及了，下一轮就2月2号了，希望还大吗？

1. 看往届的信息，说中国学生毕业都回国了，在美国很难找到工作。我还是想多给自己一些可能性的，毕业之后留美几率有多大？
2. Rady每届fulltime MBA只有几十个人，class16就有了十几个中国人，为什么比例那么高呢？
3. 我看过一些毕业之后salary的报告，好像Rady也是80k左右的样子，比top school低很多，真的是这样么？是市场认可度的原因么？

我想，每个学校对奖学金的发放标准都会有多方面的考量，背景，工作经验，GMAT，对项目的短期和对学校长期贡献等综合的评定。学校的官方回答是这些方面权重相同。但从我个人的经验来看，GMAT的分数及Essay的质量对于奖学金有决定作用，一个是硬指标，一个是软性参考，就是证明我有能力读，我也愿意来读，我爱你，也有能力娶你

今天拿到了过去三年的就业数据，其中没有具体说明supply chain方向，因为项目太小了，supply chain没有单独提出来。我这学期就选了supply chain的课，老师每节课都会有guest speaker，很多企业的supply chain manager or VP，背景都很强，一节课不到15个人，有很多connection的机会. 虽然没能正面回答你，但应该有些内容可以做参考。当然，有了更新的信息，会再上来答复。

Hey Eclipse,
1、Healthcare 是目前Rady 主推的一个方向，借助于UCSD生物学，医学和工程学的优势，在Bio-tech, medical device, mobile/wireless healthcare 方向不断开设新的课程和合作项目，前景非常看好，也有很多医学，医疗行业背景的同学在这个项目中，你从就业数据的行业里就可以看到，你又是家族企业，我觉得非常适合。
2、我今天问过招生办你这个问题，Rady招生是rolling的，你准备好了就在网上提交申请资料，学校会在收到后就开始评估，offer会在下一轮到时统一发出，你的时间并不晚。
3，690算是整个项目的平均分，在中国同学的pool里并不高，如果你有时间可以再刷一次，如果没时间，背景不错的话，也有很大机会拿奖

1. 过去几年的中国同学我们正在联系，但从我这得知是只要想留美找工作的同学都找到了工作，回去的同学各自有各自的原因，有回国的职位不错的，有回到原来公司的，有回去陪父母的，总之想留下来工作的都有机会留下来，只是看个人意愿和发展机会。
2. 我认为是大家看到了Rady的发展，越来越多优秀的中国同学申请Rady, Rady不忍心舍去谁吧，我是2015届，从我个人看现在这届新生各方面的背景都要比我们这届要强，相信以后会越来越强，但招生办说中国同学人数明年应该会有所减少
3. 关于pay的问题，和行业和工作所在地都有关系，Rady的学生在tech 公司的比例较大，工资相比投行或其他行业略低，因为圣地亚哥太美，很多人就留在圣地亚哥，在圣地亚哥的工资就比不了湾区或纽约，也是事实。另外一部分同学创业后的工资基数是很低的，也会有影响。当然，也要看个人背景和努力，也行你会是拿高薪的那个

因为San Diego不像纽约，芝加哥有那样多的bank和成熟的金融市场，所以Banking和Investment的工作机会不像那里那样多，Rady 的Finance 专注于corporate finance, 工作机会也集中在此，我知道的在圣地亚哥，近几年有很多finance的同学进到高通。

还没看上一条消息吧，我又来更新了，问了career center, 因为样本小，Supply Chain在就业数据里划在other项中了。
另外，推荐我正在上的Supply Chain老师 Jimmy Anklesaria 的一本书：《供应链成本管理(利用AIM & DRIVE流程获得卓越成果)》“The Supply Chain Cost Management: The Aim & Drive Process for Achieving Extraordinary Results” ，觉得不错，希望有些帮助对你。

Based on our experience, this will depends on your background and experience. The typical process can depends on anywhere between one weeks to one and half month. Because of the raising UCSD-Rady reputation, we definitely can predict a jump in number of applicants. We're in finals week and Christmas is coming up, so the process is a little slow. If you're worried about interference with your other schools deadline, you can send a courtesy note to the admission office and ask an update. Hope this helps!

Hello,
I'm a first year Rady MBA student with lengthy SCM experience before I've arrived here. Supply Chain is one of the hottest commodities in America right now, given how strong the economy is recovering from financial crisis. Major Pharmaceutical companies such as J&J, Merck, Novartis all need SCM ppl in their Global value chain. I know most of my friend who is majoring in SCM and with a MBA all find great positions 3 month after they graduate, if you can master you're communication skills, I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to take you after you graduate. With that said, the focus of this profile is on those industries for which supply chain management is essential to remain competitive in the marketplace: manufacturing, retailing, and logistics and distribution. Manufacturing companies typically emphasize materials management and sourcing functions. Roles within the retail and merchandising industries tend to emphasize logistics, warehousing, and inventory management. Not limited to San Diego, but if you go north, there's Major Consumer and Hi tech companies that need SCM (Intel, Apple, Mattel, Disney, Nestle, Walmart.com, Levis) just named a few.

两个essay一个问了你在工作中的贡献，一个问如何介绍自己，如何给rady贡献。都没有问why mba why rady啊。那么还需要在essay里提及这两个基本问题嘛？

Hi bigfatwhiterabb,
I think there's no right or wrong answer to this question. In my own honest opinion, I think Rady admission want to see how would you bring your expertise and know-how to your future Rady Cohort and want to know a little bit more about you. I think the best way to tackle this question is to related your job experience and why you choose Rady, and why now is the best time to pursue an MBA.
For example, if Rady Admissions ask you to introduce yourself to your classmates and what contribution can you bring to your future classmates, this is in connection with the "why Rady" question, ex. if you're a self-entrepreneur and you know Rady pride itself on entrepreneurship and encourage future MBA students to launch their business, you would want to emphasis that. If you're an experience 10 year mid-level executive, you want to share how your leadership would benefit the whole class and Why accepting you as an MBA student would enriches the program in any other way. To sum up, like any other Business School, Rady want to bring in the best talent and educate them to be the best in any industry. The better you know about Rady, the better Rady Admission knows that you did your homework and want to offer you a seat in the future cohort. Hope this will ease any concerns you might have.

Correct, I'm a first year MBA student here at the Rady School of Management. With the U.S recession over, American economy is back in action, especially in manufacturing and High Tech fields. UCSD has a prestige reputation, so Rady is definitely taken advantage of the UCSD name. In terms of finding a job in California and the bay area, you have to know what industry you are coming from and what industry you intend to go into. Bay Area is the hub of innovation and the mantra of technology. So if you intend to stay in high tech related field, I don't see why you can't find a job after MBA graduation, with that said, it's very difficult for International to get H1-B sponsor from a lot of companies, so you guys have to start your work early on in the process, before you step into B-School. In addition, Communication is another screening tool to predict whether a company will want to invest in you or move forward with another candidate. Rady is a new school, Career services is still trying to play the catch up game to other top 30 business schools, so finding internship and full time placement will take some work. My advice is to do as much homework as you can before you arrived next fall if you get accepted. No matter which school you attend, whether it's Harvard, MIT or Stanford, Finding a job is a work of art, nothing is guarantee and no one will just hand you a "You're Hired" letter. So network, network and network (you're previous job network, and you're school network will definitely help)

I worked as operations in energy import field. My working experience has nothing to do with hi-tech.
I want to focus on the supply chain management concentration in the future. How about the job opportunities in supply chain management filed? I guess many job opportunities are related with hi-tech or bio-tech. So it seems my lack of hi-tech or bio-tech exposure is a disadvantage in western coast. Wat is your opinion about this concern?

Sorry for the late reply, First of all Operations and Supply Chain seems identical, but it's very different and niche in America, I can speak to this because I have 10+ years in Operation and Global Supply Chain. Whether it's in the US or in China only big companies will want to hire Supply Chain Major since SCM is heavily concentrate on cost reduction and material inflow and outflow and only big companies have specialized job title such as Supply Chain Analyst, Commodity Manager, Global procurement Manager, Inventory Manager, etc. Do you have Supply Chain experience previously? Do you hold any certificate training (CPM, CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma Green or Black Belt? ) If you have any of these certificate it will be a big plus for you to stand out even if you're an international candidate. The reason why I say this is Supply Chain is a hot commodity in the 21st century for any company that is looking to compete in a global environment in terms of product management, cost reduction, and business expansion. If you can combine SCM with Data Analytics (Big Data) I know many Consumer and Energy companies are looking to hire such talents. SCM is like a project manager and cost account manager that need to save $$ and make an impact on the bottom line. If you don't have any experience in High tech or bio-tech, its not a big deal if you know how to promote and sell your skills to your potential employers but if you have trouble interpret your thoughts in front of recruiter then this might become a problem. My first SCM job when I graduate from college is with Proctor & Gamble then I switch to Aerospace, building F-22 and F-35 for the Department of Defense, As long as you have the hardcore skill and know how to promote yourself I don't see switching industry will be too much of a problem, of course you do have to know the terminologies in order to convince someone to hire you for the position.
-Example of Supply Chain Jobs in the US-
Both east coast, west coast as well as down south have SCM opportunities
South-Shell, Dell, Texas Instrument, Coca Cola
West-Apple, Facebook, Intel, Walmart.com, Levis, Amazon, Pepsi, Disney, Nike
East Coast/Midwest- Proctor & Gamble, SC Johnson, Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, IBM, McDonalds etc.

非常同意您的见解，不过也有一个小小的疑问。既然supply chain方向的就业机会集中于大公司，而很多大公司似乎接收国际生的比例反而会比较小（大概是树大招风，劳工部盯得紧），对于留美就业反而会是个劣势呢？

RADY 给奖相对还是很慷慨的，基本上GMAT700以上都能有奖，多少还要看其他综合背景情况。不过随着RADY 知名度的不断提升，竞争从2014年起开始越来越激烈了，要拿大奖还是要尽快申请哦！

I have experience in international business operations, not SCM. In many Schools, their programs integrate operations and SCM together. But I do think there are much difference between operations and SCM. In China there are many international trading companies who work as agents to import and export for the manufacturing factories and international business is hot. However, in US, the market is quite mature and many companies can buy globally by self, so there is little opportunities for international business. That's one reason I want to transfer to SCM. The other reason is that I like analysis and figures.

競爭確實越來越激烈了我G700，T100沒有獎，囧o(╯□╰)o。整理君，我還想問一個問題，我大概20天前拿到了provisional offer，郵件上說我還有mssing document list 會 mail to me，他们收到這些文件后才可以consider final，上面也需要我交$1500 deposit。現在繳費日期臨近我還是沒有收到missing document list，我個人覺得可能是正式的成績單，但是這麼長時間他們也沒有send這些文件是咋整。是我需要交了deposit他們才會mail嗎？還請幫忙解答，謝謝！

Hey,
T 80 是UCSD对所有研究生的Tofle最低要求，Rady采用这个标准是不想因为T而错过一个优秀的candidate，但你需要在成绩比你优秀的同学中展现你其他的过人之处。

Rady MBA是很小的项目，每年国际学生在20位左右，建议尽快申请，最后一轮基本上是给美国学生的

missing document应该不会影响你的奖学金，建议不断发信问询，表达入学意愿，argue奖学金，如还未回复，请直接联系我

Your question is very broad, it's very hard to answer this question just give you a rough estimate. But to be brief there are so many big companies in the U.S so your chance are very good if you try hard enough and want to stay in the U.S after graduation. But just like I said in my previous post, SCM is a hot job function, if you have any international experience, it will be a big plus. Give you an example, one of our 2nd year have international experience in China working for Accenture and Oracle. you can definitely transfer your skill to the U.S and everyone know about those companies. To be honest, whether it's international or U.S citizen, the proportion for a given position in any company is the same, only difference is your status and experience. Hope this helps, not really sure if I answer your question correctly.

首先要恭喜你哦！不过700/100 没奖有点遗憾，可以再和他们bargain 一下下！回答你的问题，写了missing document list, 他们会寄实体信给你，所以会晚些到哦！和DEPOSIT 的时间应该是无关的。有鉴于时间快到了，我个人还是建议你按时DEPOSIT会比较好。期待早日与你在RADY见面

88~还是有点低的！G680差不多了！不过要奖的话还是要过700，2015年RADY 很可能进入TOP40, 所以你懂得！不过托福不是关键，关键还是综合材料要给力！比如工作经验，最好是知名的大公司，国内国际皆可！重点是ESSAY, 需要深度挖掘一下自己的独特之处：比如有什么特长，有啥LEADERSHIP 的经验，有什么可以 enhance experience in classroom with your fellow MBA students! Good Luck!

provisional offer虽然不是正式offer, 不过只要你没有材料是...而且及时deposit, 恭喜你, you are in！

我的信函里是這麼明確寫的，UCSD要求內地的一定要CDGDC認證，並且通過CDGDC直接寄出才被認為是OFFICIAL，所以要趕快呀，那個認證加上寄出的時間挺長的。

没有听过这样的要求，以前是直接寄密封盖章的成绩单就行，先不急认证，我来问一下招生办。
