标题: 介绍一个今年新开始招生的PhD Program (Tulane Finance\Accounting)
这是个比较独特的项目。Finance和Accounting两个项目合在一起。历史其实很悠久了，不过最近若干年各种原因没有招生。后来不少教授强烈要求，重新恢复了这个项目。今年是第一年开始招生，2015秋季入学。

具体的信息不多说了，大家可以看网页：

这个项目的好处是，学生会受到金融和会计的训练，将来上market可以根据自己的背景以及市场的情况上finance或者accounting的market。历史经验是accounting的市场要好过finance的市场，这个从过去的placement可以看出来。不过training都是一样的。现在的情况是finance那边的老师阵容要强大一些，不过accounting最近不断招人，估计将来阵容会越来越强。

奖学金3w每年，外加入学发电脑和后面的研究资助($1500/yr)。个人觉得老师对这个新的项目很期待很上心，所以从老师那里得到的关注也会比较多。

finally the program came out...I viewed Freeman's website in October while there was nothing there..
This program is not for me, who has no solid foundation in accounting. But New Orleans is a good place to go.

r u sure... i went to new orleans three years ago and the whole city looked so deserted. apparently still not recovered from Katrina but that's almost ten years ago...

New Orleans has the highest murder rate, people go there for mardi gras and singles parties. many rich guys left New Orleans for Houston after Katrina, and now the local universities are still suffering. i went there last month, nothing has changed.

New Orleans suffered every several years...that's true. Sorry to misled someone..But I think it is still a beautiful city for travelling? Freeman has bad location, and not-bad ranking.

New Orleans is not that bad, it is just not that suitable for Asian guys. in terms of violent crimes, Chicago and Memphis are even worse. while on the flip side, if you choose to study in a dangerous city, you may have more time to study because you can not hang out with someone outside after 10 pm.

看到上面关于New Orleans的讨论，关于NOLA是否适合生活见仁见智，每个人有自己的标准，当然对很多华人来说不是首选的定居城市。不过，PhD是你读书五年的地方，对大多数人来说5年之后都要离开，所以是否适合定居可能没那么重要。至于犯罪率安全性之类的，用一句话，be at the right place at the right time. 别夜里一个人街上瞎晃荡，相信美国大多数地方都差不多。

在New Orleans的妹子谈谈感受，基本每个月都能收到学校的Crime Alert--奇葩处在于有时抢劫竟然在一条热闹街道的下午两三点钟，身边不少同学包括我自己的自行车也被偷过，另外深觉房租不便宜，学校20分钟步行范围的人均月房租是500刀均价。。。不过这个城市还是很有可爱之处，大部分街坊邻居大爷大妈们都很和善，美食也算多，另外杜兰教授大部分都很可爱

500刀算便宜了吧。。。之前在另一个黑人聚居可以和NOLA媲美的baltimore人均是700...

It is really great news! I will enter an accounting master program next fall and am really hoping to grab a PHD in the future. However, I wonder whether those Doctoral Accounting Programs admit students every year? I searched online for several schools and I found that the placement statistics are really limited. For some programs, there are only several students showed on the placement statistics for the past fifteen years.
