标题: OG13 Verbal 部分38题有问题===求解~

A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calves exercise and associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do those raised in confinement.

(A) associated with other calves, they will require less medication and gain weight quicker than do

(B) associated with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight quicker than

(D) associate with other calves, they have required less medication and will gain weight more quickly than do

(E) associate with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight more quickly than

OG 里面说do must be omitted from the compararison。想说这里do省略不会有歧义吗？理解为gain weight quickly than gain those...？
望大神讲解，万分感谢

非牛，我说说我的理解吧，我也不敢保证对。
歧义是不会有的。简单的说weight是个不可数名词，不能用those来指代。
至于do must be omitted from the compararison，仔细看一下选项，实际上被对比的是有两样的，一个是less medication，另一个是gain weight more quickly。例如选项A，第一个对比用了一般将来时will require，第二个对比用了一般将来时gain weight，如果加上do，那就等于只对比了第二个，因为第一个用一般将来时是不能用do的，只能用will。加上do的话，第一个对比就没了。但GMAT是规定有比较级就必须有两个能对比的事物，所以do必须去掉。否则这个句子就不完整了。C和D选项也是这个问题。

这只是我自己的理解，抛砖引玉，希望楼下有大神来指正一下。

对于你说的有两个对比的东西所以其实不会产生歧义的理解我表示赞同，但是你说的时态问题我觉得那如果是E呢？没有存在时态问题，难道就可以用？

个人认为E选项是可以用do的。比如说两个对比分开以后：
they require less medication than those [xxx] require -> than do those [xxx]
they gain weight more quickly than those [xxx] gain weight -> than do those [xxx]
这样子比较本身是没问题，就只是个省略的问题，似乎没有别的理由不可以用do。只是说既然没有太大必要加上do，能省就省了。

总结一下：A存在的问题是will因为如果这里是less的话需要有比较对象后面的do无法与will对应所以没有比较的对象因而错误。E的话其实补出是没有问题的但是不补出也不会有歧义因为前面有两个动作。

本来我也觉得do是可加可不加，但是这道题OG解析里说the verb do ungrammatically interrupts the comparison and should be eliminated, 为什么会ungrammatically interrupts the comparison??
