标题: Manhattan语法书中的问题，求大神指教！
Based on the recent decline in enrollment, the admissions office decided to reevaluate its recruitmrnt strategies.为什么错了？？书上说逻辑应该是office因为decline而改变策略，而不是基于decine。不明白啊！！求指教！！大神！！

我讲讲我的理解，对于“based on XXX，主句”这种结构，就看based on是不是和主句主语匹配，匹配就对，不匹配就错。

比如这题，因为分词逻辑主语必须和主句的主句一致，所以你这个句子要对的话，必须是the admission office is based on the recent decline in XXX. 这个意思是不make sense的，这样的意思是the admission office是建立在recent decline的基础上的。而原句想表达的意思是AO做了一个决定，这个决定是基于recent decline，所以至少句子也应该是：Basing the recent decline in XXX, the admission office decided to XXX.

或者：The admission office decided to reevaluate its recruitment strategies based on the recent decline in XXX.

注意第一句必须是basing主动，而后一句因为修饰的位置不同，就要改成based，因为第二句的based是修饰recruitment strategies的，而不是主语the admission office。

简单的说，一般来讲，based和物搭配，用被动；basing和人搭配，用主动。
