111. Springfield Fire Commissioner: The vast majority of false fire alarms are prank calls made anonymously from fire alarm boxes on street corners. Since virtually everyone has access to a private telephone, these alarm boxes have outlived their usefulness.Therefore, we propose to remove the boxes. Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people's ability to report a fire.

CD上几个答疑帖都看了但还是没有理解...
答案是A 我选的是C

argument的结论是Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people's ability to report a fire.

可是A说的 traces all alarm calls made from private telephones and records，我理解这样通过管理all alarm calls 可以减少prank calls，可是题目的前提也说了，The vast majority of false fire alarms are prank calls made anonymously from fire alarm boxes, 不是from private telephones 的啊，觉得这跟removing the boxes 没有关系啊，为什么能support呢。

C的解释我现在大概可以理解，但是就不明白为什么A可以support。难道我是理解的不对吗...fire alarms box是通过private phones 报警的吗难道0 0

纠结了好久啊求大神帮忙T T

我说下自己理解的为什么A对。因为发现火情后可以有两种报警方式，A的意思是说消防部门是可以通过私人电话报告追踪到报警者是谁，这样的话报警者就不敢像用街边的alarm box那样虚报火情，所以prank calls会减少，同时不会影响人们报警的能力，因此我们要拆除alarm box,是通过对加上原文中reduce the number of prank calls这个premise的加强最终加强了结论。

这题原来也迷惑了我很久，试试给你解答把。解决这个问题的关键点是紧靠题意，原文的结论是Removing the boxes will reduce the number of prank calls without hampering people's ability to report a fire. 由于文中提到大量的prank calls都是来自于fire alarm boxes 所以 remove f=reduce prank calls 相信这个不难看出。因此可见关键在于如何不去伤害人们报警的这个能力。我们来看C，C主要说明的是private phone比fire alarm boxes更好，它能比fire alarm boxes 提供更多的信息，但是这里并没有说明private phone 会不会伤害到人们报警的能力！！因此这个是无关选项，没有紧扣问题。再来看A，如果你把A取非，如果消防部不能追踪报警电话所在地，他们就无法得知哪里有火灾，因此A选项取非会直接影响的people's ability to report a fire,正确选A

因为：火警是匿名的所以有prank call。大家都有自己的私人电话。
所以：取消火警后prank call会减少。

题目的隐含假设：火警=匿名=prank call。私人电话不匿名所以不会有prank call。

要求：证明取消火警后prank call会减少

A：如果有能力trace，那么支持了隐含假设
B：提及了保养费，无关
C：这个和匿名不匿名没有关系

目前为止看到最好的解释，如下：

One of the premises given by the author is that "virtually everyone has access to a private telephone", which they can use to call in a fire alarm. This would include the people who currently use the fire alarm boxes to make prank calls. Suppose all the fire alarm boxes are removed. The pranksters can still use their private phones to make phone calls, and so the amount of prank calls will not necessarily be reduced. But if the fire department traces all calls made from private phones and are able to determine where they came from (and potentially the identity of the prank caller), this would discourage the pranksters from calling and would thus probably result in a reduction in the amount of prank calls.

说一下自己的理解
这是一个方案推理

P:大部分错误火警都来自街边报警箱的匿名恶作剧电话
P:几乎每个人都有私人电话，这些报警箱基本没用了
目的:减少来自街边报警箱的恶作剧电话，同时不妨碍人们报告火灾的能力
方案:撤掉报警箱（言下之意:让人们用私人电话报警）
Q: 支持方案

首先心里牢记方案要达成的目的是什么：【目的是要--> 减少恶作剧电话】
支持方案，就是要支持方案可以达成目的。
方向是：支持方案的有效性 --- 确实可以减少恶作剧电话 --本题
         支持方案的可行性 --- 实施无障碍
         排除方案的副作用

PS: 原文有条逻辑链：
撤掉报警箱 --> 大家以后用私人电话 --> 恶作剧电话可以减少
【其实在第二个链上是默认用私人电话[就]可以减少恶作剧电话，
  而A正好加强了这一假设。同时A也加强了目的里的“不妨碍人们报告火灾的能力”】

C.只是说用telephone call报警可以比alarm box提供更多关于火灾的信息。 ---这一点从什么角度说明了“恶作剧电话会减少”呢？并没有
D.只是陈述了错误电话的害处，没有支持方案可以达到其目的。

这道题的作者话里的意思是说火警是匿名的所以有prank call，私人电话不是匿名的所以不会有prank call。
也就是说，作者的逻辑是火警=匿名=prank call；私人电话=不是匿名=不是prank call

这道题难点在于你要看出这个隐含的信息才能快速答题。
A说了火警部门有能力知道私人电话是不是匿名的所以能知道是不是prank call。正好说的是作者的隐含假设。
支持了结论，也就是说既然能知道私人电话是不是prank call，就没有必要保留火警了。
