118 According to a review of 61 studies of patients suffering from severely debilitating depression,a large majority of the patients reported that missing a night's sleep immediately lifted their depression.Yet sleep-deprivation is not used treat depression even though the conventioal treatments,which use drugs and electric shocks,often have serious side effects.
此题如何理解，missing a night's sleep immediately lifted their depression说明缺少睡眠会加重depression,那当然不应去用sleep-deprivation去治疗depression了，这有什么矛盾的。

我的理解正好相反lifted their depression应该是指会减少depression 吧，把depression提起来不就是减少吗？

(1) raise,elevate

(2) to put an end to

(3) to pay off

看来本题中的Lift作put an end解。其它解释放入题中不通。另外根据字典，raise也有end的意思。

但是lift本身还有上升的意思。。这个怎么解释呢。。

其实没看懂lift也应该能做对的，反正就是说两种方法A和B。B有严重的副作用，但是人们还要用B。那就说明A有更严重的副作用。A有啥好处没看懂也罢，知道肯定是说A好的。
