题目：Inuits of the Bering Sea were in isolation from contact with Europeans longer than Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska.

有点不太明白比较的对象是哪两者。另外关于如何把握这种有省略的比较啊？求大神指点啊！！！

翻译一下这句话：

Inuits of the Bering Sea与Europeans失去联系时间比 Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska长，
完整是说前面这玩意失去联系的时间比后面这玩意失去联系的时间长，如果不加那个were，可以理解为前面这个玩意与欧洲失去联系的时间比与后面这些玩意失去联系的时间长。

比较的是主语
inuits of Bering Sea -- Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and norther Alaska

因为后面有Europeans，所以后面的主语必须加上谓语were

总感觉WERE的位置这样奇怪啊，能不能再解释一下。感觉A is isolated from C longer than B is isolated from C,然后怎么就变成A is isolated from C longer than is B?

were用于句首是倒装，在比较中非常常见。
我感觉是 A is isolated from X longer than B&C were isolated from X. (宾语省略后were提前倒装)
