标题: OG一道题

这道题当时选了C，其实一开始很敏感has the rank of 这样的用法很awkward.但是看到后面only的时候我就觉得这道题的考点很明显，无非是看only修饰的对象有没有错。记得看PREP笔记的时候有一道题总结出这样一句话：only要紧跟修饰词，并且向后修饰。而且OG这道题的解析也说：Only is placed with precision next to the group of words it actually limits.，我当时觉得only就是修饰surpassed的，为什么又要把它认作是修饰by heart diseases and cancer?如何看 only 的修饰？谢谢！

only本意应该去修饰heart diseases 和cancer的，literally的翻译就是只被这两个病surpass。如果放在surpass前就是说只被surpass。这个点在这句话里比较微妙，楼主多读一下句子体会体会。换个明显的句子：小明只是被烫伤了(only 烫伤/小明只是被烧伤了（only烧伤）， only修饰的就是烧伤或烫伤。把后面的这个动词限定死了。同样这里only放在surpass前只是把surpass限定死了。有点像中文的重读音节，强调的去读某个词，同样一句话，把重音放在另外的一个词上，听起来意思就不太一样。不知道楼主听明白了没啊，，，解释的有点混乱。

那你怎么判断重读到底在哪里呢？

而且我觉得only修饰surpass会更好啊，因为强调只被超过嘛......

强调的是只被谁超过。小红只是被小明打伤了。请分别重读小明和打伤两个词，你会发现意思完全不同。前者是小红只被一个人，小明，打伤了。后者是小红只是被打伤了，不是打残了，打傻了，也不是打废了，也不是被qj了。。。only的作用和重读差不多。如果修饰surpass就会出现以上第二中重读的意思，只是被超过啊，不是被完爆啊，不是被xx啊，会出现这种弦外音。

体会下这两个句子 ALL students are in the water. Students are all in the water. 前者说的是数量后者说的是程度。这道题的区别就在这里。所以关于only all mere等这些短单词的位置 Gmat非常容易来考。

同学，这道题如果从单复数的角度来看的话，diabetes 不应该是单数的吗，不应该接rank么为什么是ranks呢

Diabetes是糖尿病这个词，本来这个单词的结尾就是有s，并不是复数。

这道题主要C,has the rank,一种病能has吗，句意不对。
