标题: 关于it/this/their和that/those在比较中的指代
最近在总结比较的题目有一个问题请教各位NN哈我想请问it在比较中的指代是否和This their一样呢？

Ron说如果在比较重用了this/their进行指代，就必须指代的是那个名词和其所有修饰语的Unit，比如这句话：today's technology allows manufarcturers to make small cars that are more fuel-efficient than THOSE at any other time in production history. THOSE仅仅指代的是small cars，而不包括small cars所有的修饰，包括today之类的。这道题的两个错误选项分别是1. today's technology allows manufarcturers to make small cars more fuel-efficient now than at any other time in THEIR production history 和 2. today's technology allows manufarcturers to make small cars that are more fuel-efficient than THEY WERE at any other time in THEIR production history. ron的解释就是这两个选项中they/their都不仅仅只指代了small cars，还包括了比较左边关于所有small cars的修饰和信息。我个人认为这两句错误选项其实都可以，除了they/their的用法让他们错误了。但是当我回头再看prep08另外一道题的时候就有点混乱了。

这道题的正确句子是A large rise in the number of housing starts in the coming year should boost new construction dollars by several billion dollars,making the construction industry’s economic health much more robust than IT was five years ago. 这里面it是指代的construction industry's economic health对吧，但是it是否跟this/their一样在指代中其实是要包含其修饰名词的所有修饰语呢？即it在这道题里指代的是construction industry's economic health TODAY呢？还是说it和That/those的用法一样，仅仅指代的是那个名词而不是其所有的限定修饰成分？

比较前面没有状语比较后面有状语是需要在比较的后面补出比较内容的
不知道是GMAT 感觉这样很漂亮还是怎么的反正我见过的句子都是这样子的
举个例子
Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than in any previous election. 这句话就是前后的时间状语的
对比  1992 和previous election  所以没有补出 that
第一题原来我也问过  通过句子意思来判断
科技能让厂商制作小车子相比于在生产历史的其他小车子更加省油注意这里是不同的小车子  比如原来是 A B C 各种车现在变成了 X!车
这个those 指代的小车子  就是一个名字而已具备的特性不一样一个是过去的小车子一个是现在的高效小车子
错误的答案1里面  their  的指代明显不好啊  前面那么多复数名词。。根据我上面的定律前面没有时间状语  后面有  GMAT 就会把省略的东西补出来他也没补出来
错误答案2  里面的 they 去指代小车子就成了科技能让厂商  现在制造的小车子  比他们过去更省油  这里指  原来是A车现在还是A车  只不过A车性能更高了

  你第二个句子it 指代的是
the construction industry’s economic health    it  指的就是上文的东西带着修饰语一起的  一般都是进行时间状语上的比较  和those  不一样  those 指代核心词这个 Manhattan里面有说的

额但是我感觉那是在暗示today么。。逻辑意思肯定是今天的呀

恩呢其实我翻到你的帖子了~但是不知道你们都还在不在哈。。谢谢回答！！我觉得你说的很有道理啦但是我觉得吧啊我有一个跟你想法不同的地方但是我不确定对不对哈因为我也是个小菜鸟~~欢迎热烈讨论~！

Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than in any previous election.这个句子肯定是对的，但是我觉得要是补全的话不能补that的要补it did的。我之前看了个全部比较和部分比较的帖子，感觉那个讲的很正确，但是我目前还不完全确定我自己有没有完全明白。但是我根据那个帖子，我自己的理解是这里面补全的话也不能用that要补全谓语的，就是it did。不知道你怎么想~

这句话后面是个同位语，要补的话是这样的
..., a greater proportion than the proportion in any previous election
省掉后面的the proportion，或者用that都可以。不能用it did。

哦哦哦是我疏忽了没有看到比的是a greater proportion。但是如果没有这个同位语，比的是cost的话就是it did而不是that对吧？我的意思是句子变成了Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992---more than it did in 2014.

因为我看到了这样一道题： only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies-fewer than have been killed by bee stings.

我现在依然不是很能灵活运用在比较中用that还是补出主谓。是可以通过意思，但是我觉得有时候我要是通过意思就很容易错，比如上面那句话我会以为单纯比较人数，而错选了 only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies-fewer than those killed by bee stings. 我后来就理解为这句话不是单纯比较人数，而是在比较人的属性，需要补出主谓。不知道你在比较的补出问题上有什么诀窍吗？谢谢！

...上面那个句子应该是they did，或者直接more than in 2014.

原则就是把所有东西都补上，然后相同的东西可以指代或者省略。

下面那个句子补上those并没有错，补上应该是fewer than those have been killed by bee stings.

不选那个those的选项是因为时态错了，要和未划线部分的时态保持一致。
