标题: GWD-9-31关于those指代问题来个权威解释啊，讨论没得结果的嘛
翻了半天，发现大家关于这个题的解释都不一样，都是说的各自的理解，这么多年过去了有人来挖坟吗。

The current economic downturn has significantlyreduced advertising income both for business journals as well as generalconsumer magazines, especially if focusing on technology.

A. has significantly reduced advertisingincome both for business journals as well as general consumer magazines,especially if focusing

B. has significantly reduced advertising income bothfor business journals and for general consumer magazines, especially those focusing

C. significantly reduced advertisingincome for both business journals and for general consumer magazines,especially whenfocused

D. reduced both business journals’ andgeneral consumer magazines’ advertising income significantly, especially if focused

E. reduced advertising income significantlyfor both business journals, as well as for general consumer magazines,especially those focusing

看到很多都说those指代 bussiness journals and general consumer magazines. 可以这样用吗？？？？

还有的说因为business journals不可能focus on technology所以只指代negeral consumer magazines，这靠谱吗？？？？？

所以我的问题是:

如果只能指代一个的话会不会产生歧义，如果一次指代两个那是不是有这种用法，可以指代一个and连接的两个名词？？

看了很多讨论，求来个权威，让讨论结束在这里吧。

those要指代句子中的成分，用了especially所以肯定要找前面距离最近的成分，也就是general consumer magazines.

bussiness journals and general consumer magazines 根本不是句子中的任何已有成分。

因为“用了especially所以肯定要找前面距离最近的成分”是不是说这个especially因为只能指general consumer magazines(因为它离这个句子最近)，所以消除了（可以指代bussiness journals）的歧义？

我这样理解可以吗？？？

还有“business journals and general consumer magazines不是句子中的任何已有成分“这句话怎么理解，啥叫不是句子中的任何已有成分。

1. that/those指代出现过的、特定的同类的事物。（区别于it/they指代出现过的完全一样的事物；one/ones指代出现过的、可数的、泛指的同类事物，尤其用来指人），这个说起来比较抽象，可以找一些句子体会下。

2. 用especially就要特指前面最近的成分，如果要指代business journals那就要写成

... has significantly reduced advertising income bothfor business journals, especially those focusing on technology, and for general consumer magazines.

3. 句子中已有的成分就是出现过的啊，句子里面没有出现过“business journals and general consumer magazines”，只是分别出现过“business journals”和“general consumer magazines”.

再问一个问题好不- -

如果原文这样写，for both A and B,especially those focusing，这样对么，这样指的是哪个？指的是两个还是一个，还是错误的？

这样写真就分不清是在说谁了。。。

想到一个知识点，和你说的这个有类似，碰到的话注意就是了：
（以下假设A，B都是单数名词）
A and B, which does：修饰B
A and B, which do：修饰A&B
A and Bs, which do：可能有歧义
As and B, which does：修饰B
As and Bs, which do：可能有歧义
