Indeed, modern society is quite different from what it is years ago. People’s thoughts also changed a lot. However, in my opinion, the ability to plan and organize is significant for all people.

To begin with, the ability to plan and organize is a basic skill. As it is known to all, if we want to make a difference in future, we need to develop a good habit in our childhood. For example, in my childhood, I was ordered to finish homework before I could watch TV. Actually, I was ordered to finish whatever tasks I was given before I could do something else. I believe that it is the preliminary stage of planning and organizing. My parents taught me an important lesson. If I want to relax, I need to put my work first. Consequently, I know that there is something I should do first, and I must finish it first. If I plan to have a party with my friends, I must finish my work.

In addition, good planning and organization is important in everyone’s daily life. We cannot deny the fact that every great accomplishment is involved in good planning and organization. For instance, I like opera. I like it not only because its lyrics or its words, but because its music or every actor’s movement. And I know exactly that they were all designed to express either the characters’ personalities or hidden meaning. Although we see only several minutes of a scene on the stage, it takes a lot of people probably months to design the movement or compose the music. It is the same on other cases. One achievement may take one a life time to plan or organize.

Finally, I think that one’s daily life is a process of planning and organizing. Every day, we decide what to do, when to do and how to do. In the morning, we plan to deal with the files we could not finish last night. In the afternoon, we get a call from our family. We plan to pick them up first, then, take them to a restaurant. At night, we plan to go to the seaside with our family on this year’s Christmas holidays. As we can see, planning and organizing consist of our daily lives.

To summarize, as modern technologies are improving, the ability to plan and organize is becoming increasingly important and complex not only for young people but for everyone.

占8.11 书籍比电视对社会有更大影响

Indeed, digital technology plays an important role in modern times. Using computers or cellphones to deal with problems is a commonplace. Also, people use television to get current affairs updated or to have a relax. In my opinion, however, compared with television, book exerts a more influential effect on society.

To begin with, book has a much longer history in human society. The use of books could date back to thousands of years ago while television has been invented only for about a hundred years. In ancient times, people acquired knowledge through books because they are the only source to spread ideas. For example, we came to know a lot of physics theories from manuscripts of many great scientists. Actually, it is safe to say that book leads the entire human race to modern civilization. When we encounter a problem, the first thought is to look it up on books not on television.

In addition, book is educational while television is recreational. When we were a child, we went to school to learn knowledge on books. For instance, in my childhood, I was ordered to read more books but not to watch more television. I believe that it is widely accepted that people read books to learn and watch television to relax. We know that there are too much things unsuitable for young people to get to know in television, such as violence, blood and advertisements. In books, however, there are a lot we can learn from. When we read a novel, we can learn beautiful words and expressions in it. When we read a science fiction, we are probably fascinated by the thoughts and foresight of the author. We know many technologies in science fictions became true, such as plane and submarine.

Finally, although I have to admit that some programs are helpful, they are broadcasted at a certain time in most occasions. I am fond of Discovery, but the programs are set in a particular time. Only in that moment can I see my favorite video. If I just have a lot of work to do, I am afraid that I definitely will miss it. Moreover, surely, there are some books forbidden by society, books that some people may use as a weapon to cause serious social problems. Most books are healthy and enlightened. People should pay much attention in choosing books. Right books will lead one to a bright road.

To summarize, book, as the only way to pass knowledge through generations to generations for thousands of years, has more influence on human society and history than television does. I think that today, book will continue to show human the right path in every field.

占8.14 过去老师比现在老师对年轻人影响力更大

Nowadays modern technologies have greatlychanged human beings’ lives. Also, the concept of education improved a lot. Thus, the assumption that teachers played a more significant role in the past hasnowhere to stand.

First and foremost, compared with the past,an increasing number of young people have the access to education. In otherwords, teachers can get more opportunities to contact with young people and toinfluence them. For example, several decades ago, most Chinese regarded teacheras the worst profession. They despised their teachers, and they woulddeliberately hand in undone examination papers. It was the entire socialmovement that influenced their mind. Not until the end of 1970s did thesepeople realize that they were wrong. People finally started to accept teachersand viewed them as the industrious “gardeners” for young people. More and morepeople went to college in the past twenty years. I believe that thetransformation made it possible for Chinese society and economy to develop at anincredible speed.

In addition, as technologies are improving, modern teachers’ impacts on youth lie in more fields. Although the Internetchanged the way of life of the whole generation, teachers still exert considerableeffect on young people’s thoughts. In my school, for instance, teachers willlearn not only the subject he or she teaches, but also a broad field, such aspsychology, computer and first aid. Teachers start to get aware that there issomething more important than mere teaching or reprimand. Young people’s mentalhealth is as essential as their academic performances. Consequently, teachers’professional knowledge in other fields helps mold a student.

Finally, what the students learn now ismore advanced than that in the past. Even about a hundred years ago, peopleknew little about the nature or universe. Modern development ensures youngpeople a more complex and specialized world to research. Without teacher’shelp, it is nearly impossible for an individual to get comprehensiveunderstanding of the knowledge on which he or she focuses. For example, certainfields, such as archaeology or zoology, require a great amount of interactionand observation with teachers. Making a mistake may result in an inconceivableconsequence. So teachers’ role in these subjects is crucial for young people togain what they want to study.

To summarize, since the ancient time, teachershave always been a key to young people’s growing, and there is no doubt thatthis impact will continue to become stronger in the future.

8.17 Although a lot of people know the environmental situation( global warming etc) the present situation is unlikely to change in the future

Some say that it is incredible that although most people know the pollution will threaten the lives of the entire human race, we still keep spoiling our planet. However, in my opinion, I believe it is nothing unbelievable but sheer reality.

To begin with, environmental pollution is not as easy to deal with as we expected. For decades, governments have used modern technologies to attempt to save the earth. The truth, however, is discouraging. The air keeps becoming worse, while, at the same time animal extinction seems unstoppable. For example, every winter, there are numerous days on which I can barely see the blue sky in Beijing, the city I live in, because of air pollution. People are easy to get lung or respiration diseases on these days. Although the city government takes measures to try to stop the air pollution, such as restriction on car registration or relocation of industries, the frog continue to spread every year. People in Beijing are still exploring a way to control the air pollution.

In addition, as we all know, environmental protection is a process of investment without reward. To completely handle the environmental problems, governments and companies already spent billions of dollars to improve modern technologies. But they all know clearly that they cannot get any profit in protecting the nature. It is only a burden but not a chance to save money. For instance, a lot of factories in China secretly dump their waste into lands, rivers or air. They are willing to bribe inspectors to escape the fine because compared with the bribery, it will cost more to save the earth. Thus, most companies would rather take the risks than comply with the law.

Finally, most people are not aware of the importance of protecting the nature. Although we are overwhelmed by the TV programs that time is of essence for environmental protection, people just think that the dooms day is far away from them. In rural part of China, a lot of people only accepted preliminary education such that they will imitate what others do. Actually, even those who received higher education do not think it a problem to throw several batteries or to dump the chemical waste into the river. And I suppose people’s indifference is the reason why pollution is hard to deal with.

To sum up, environmental protection is a road without an end. I think the best way to protect the earth is to avoid pollution.

占8.20 如果每年上课11个月以上,学生会得到更有效的教育

Someone hold the view that students would receive better education if they were to haveclass for more than eleven months every year. I, however, cannot agree with this point of view for the following reasons.

To begin with, I believe lecturing is not the only way for students to study. Indeed, for some traditional science, such as literature or math, theoretical learningis probably the best way to acquire knowledge. But for certain subjects, sitting in the classroom has no use for improving students’ concept of these subjects. Take biology for an example. There is no doubt that class learning is significant for students majoring in biology while I believe field work orobservation matters the most. I got to know from my favorite channel, Discovery, that biologists studying a certain species may live with this speciesfor a quite long period. In this period, biologists can closely watch the daily behavior of the species so that they will get the resources they want. Thus, sometimes, field research is a better way to study.

In addition, students may feel bored if given too much time to study. It is known to all thateverything has a limit. Numerous examples have already told people if we pushtoo hard, the attempt to achieve what we want may backfire. For example, I liked chemistry very much when I was in high school. I could not help reading books about chemistry or doing practice questions on books every day. After a while, however, I immediately had a feeling that I did not want to read any bookrelated to chemistry ever. I thought I learned too much, so I paused a week to relax myself. Eventually, I got my feet back on my study.

Last but not the least, for primary students, I suppose their priority is to play with theirfriends or stay with their family. They are too young to be overwhelmed by academic questions. Moreover, play is good for their intelligence and physical health. I read that the difference in IQ in primate is attributed to whether the ape or monkey played in its young age. If the primate played a lot, ittended to be more intelligent. As a result, I believe study more will surely be harmful for children’s growth.

To summarize, although I have to admit that increasing the time for students to learn knowledge may help them in some way, the reasons and facts above prove that children need comprehensive development not only in academic performances.

8.24 Parents should let children make and learn from their own mistakes

Who is the most important part of children’s growth? What role do parents play in children’s education? How do people define the word “grow” or how people feel a children more mentally mature than other? These are questions that puzzle every parent. From my point of view, growing is a process of exploration and correction.

First and foremost, self-independence is the most significant habit for a child to learn. Childhood only occupies a quite small part of people’s life. After childhood, people have to face series of obstacles on their own. If people cannot depend on themselves when they grow up, they will suffer a lot for the rest of their lives. For example, in China, there are numerous people who depend on their parents even when they are over thirty years old. Certainly, I have a reason to believe that it is a Chinese tradition that parents take good care of their children in every perspective. However, I still think it harmful for children’s growth to worry too much. In many cases, young people not only encounter internal problems but have to deal with external affairs without parents’ help. Thus, self-independence will better assist young people to explore the world.

In addition, children need to understand that it may take a lot of attempts to achieve the goal. We used to say Rome was not built in a day. It is the same for children’s growth. For instance, my brother is too egoism for when he was a child, he could easily get whatever he want. After stepping into society, he came across several problems he could not handle. He started to question himself and feel afraid to try anything new. He spent a long period to recover from those failures. Now he knows that he should not give up when he fails.

Last but not the least, correction of mistake can foster children’s right concept of value. Childhood is a very important part in a human being’s life, deciding the development of an individual. It is said that all man err. We all make mistakes. What matters the most is how we view our mistakes. For example, we may see the report that many criminals still come back to their old way after released from prison. Even if they were caught and paid for what they did, they were not aware that they had put much misery on victims.

To summarize, childhood is crucial in children’s growth. And parents are more crucial in children’s education. Parents should give children the right guide to let them explore the world.

8.26 人们应该坚持自己有挑战性的梦想还是注重实现现实的梦想

People say that as an adult, one should focus on real life. Instead of chasing ambitious achievement, people had better face the reality to realize some practical dreams. In my opinion, however, challenging dreams are what encourage people to improve ourselves.

To begin with, the challenging dreams keep pushing people to try their best. Human is a creature that can easily be satisfied. If people can always achieve the goal he set, he may not want to do any better even if he can. For example, in middle school, my aim was to be the number one student in my class. After an industrious semester, I finally got the best academic performance for the first time. Then, for several months, I was the top one in my class. I started to relax myself. I would do anything but study. I was pleased with what I had done and believed no one could beat me. However, at the end of the semester, I learned a lesson from the worst way that I fell out of the top ten. At last, I knew the objective was too easy for me so that I lost the energy to better myself.

In addition, what matters the most is not whether we realize our dream, but the joy and process when we pursue our dream. Although the result is important, people will get more after the endeavor. For instance, Doris Lessing, the famous British writer, was regarded the best female writer after Virginia Woolf. However, she did not get the Noble Prize in literature until she was in her ninety’s. She was nominated several times before but got nothing. I believe she must have dreamt of winning the prize one day. However, at such an age, I think that, to her, she did not care about whether she can win the prize or not, because she had already got what she deserved, recognition from all over the world.

Lucky for Doris Lessing, her dream finally came true. Most people are not that fortunate while they still feel happy because of the joy and effort. We know many artists do not witness how people around the world are crazy about their works. Yet, they all did not give up their dream, or we are not blessed to see so many wonderful paintings and statues, which people are willing to pay millions of dollars for.

To summarize, from my point of view, real dreams are those people are not so easy to obtain. I would rather call the practical dreams as aims or goals.

9.9 modern agriculture method damage the environment, but providing food for the growing population around the world is more important than protecting the environment

It has been debated for decades that whether people should continue using modern agriculture to gain food at the cost of environment. Indeed, the number of population is increasing dramatically. In my opinion, however, if people keep draining the earth greedily, there is much possibility that we will put offspring in danger.

To begin with, it is more likely natural resources will be depleted first in foreseeable future if people do not take measures. As is known to all, resources, such as crude oil, coal and natural gas, are limited. Studies have shown that at current pace, within a hundred years, the earth will be unsustainable for human beings to live. Actually, numerous problems have been reported throughout the press or media. For example, Shanxi, a province in China, has such abundant coal storage that people do not have to dig in most occasions. For almost a hundred years, this place supplies coal for the entire China. Now, series of problems have emerged because of coal mining. It is reported that the coal storage is under the red line. However, there is no sign that people will stop someday. Furthermore, every year, the ground of Shanxi province falls several meters due to mining. Thus, environmental problems are more pressing matters to human beings

In addition, people have a lot of choices in food selection, but it seems we have no choice in environmental protection. There is no doubt that scientists have realized the food problems the entire human race faces. Food crisis will probably be resolved within next twenty years. For example, I read that scientists successfully synthesized high energy food with limited substances, which has been used in space field. With a bite of highly compacted food, an astronaut can survive for days without any food ingested. Probably, decades of years later, people do not have to eat three meals a day. So, I believe people will deal with the food problems.

Finally, the introduction of modern agriculture methods outweighs the advantages they could bring. I assume that the chemicals used in pesticide or fertilizer do more harm to environment than they could benefit people. For instance, the manufacture process of pesticide and fertilizer damages the natural environment. In China, numerous factories straightly dump their polluted water into the natural water system, resulting in water pollution or healthy problems of people. Thus, I think it is safe to say that the advantages the modern agriculture brings have not change the world greatly.

To summarize, it is too early to worry about how to provide enough food for the increasing population. However, the environmental problems are getting severe for human beings to ignore.

(论述的没有问题 就是这个比较突出的不明显。本段完全没有提及food这一个话题 直接得出结论“环境问题更重要” 显得不太完整。)

In addition, people have a lot of choices in food selection, but it seems we have no choice(太绝对了吧 less比较好) in environmental protection. There is no doubt that scientists have realized the food problems the entire human race faces. Food crisis will probably be resolved within next twenty years. So, I believe people will deal with the food problems.

Finally, the introduction of modern agriculture methods outweighs the advantages (应该是缺点对应优点吧...) they could bring.
