这题我做的时候一看到E马上就Kill掉了，因为觉得E选项being...is likely to make没有主语。后来才理解到being heavily...整句话作为主语从句充当了 is的主语。我的问题是：
想到其他一些Ving引导的状语从句，如：Dinging in sediments in northern CHina, scientists have gathered evidence...这样一句话中，如果把scientists去掉，句子就木有了主语。

那么什么时候Ving引导的从句后面可以直接跟动词，ving句子本身做主语呢？
莫非是只有being引导的从句才能做主语么？如果是，那这样being的句子模式又是怎样的？

任何V-ing短语作主语都要加谓语动词。“Dinging in sediments in northern CHina, scientists have gathered evidence...”这是分词短语放在句首，分词的动作发出者必须是句子主语。而V-ing本身作主语，是因为V-ing 有动名词的作用，所谓的动名词是说既可以作为动词词性，又可以作为名词词性。““Dinging in sediments in northern CHina, scientists have gathered evidence...” 就是偏动词的词性而V-ing作主语就是把它当名词来用了。

这个里面的Being和你举例子中的Digging完全不是一回事，这里面Being就是一个动词变成了名词。比如：Being a diaosi makes me happy.
