标题: OG12th上面的一道题目
the first trenches that were cut into a 500-acre site at Tell Hamoukar,Syria,have strong evidence for certainlly administered complex societies in northern regions of the middle East that were arising simultaneously with but independently of the more celebrated city-states of southern Mesopotamia, in what is now southern Iraq.
这是原句，正确的答案是么有 that were的，只有cut into ,是不是一般可以省略为过去分词的，就不需要用定语从句呢？谢谢~~~

first trenches that were cut into和first trenches cut into两个都是对的，在语法层面上都是正确的
只是第二中表达方式更简洁，GMAT更倾向于第二种
但是，这不是判断对错的标准！！！
就像中文“我吃了橘子”，“橘子被我吃了”，这两句话都是对的，只不过第一句更加简洁

that were cut into 在语法上没有错，但作定语完全可以被过去分词cut into替代，关键的是避免了与后面that centrally administered 造成从句过多的尴尬。同时在阅读时让读者有重点的阅读后一句从句。

恩呢~~谢谢啦，那还是不用这个点作为判断标准，从别的地方找不同点好了
