标题: with独立主格与主句主语的关系
1.Visitorsto the park have often looked into the leafy canopy and seen monkeys sleepingon the branches, with arms and legs hanging like socks on a clothesline.

2.With no natural predators and with expanses of green suburban neighborhoods where there is no hunting, the deer population in New Jersey, wildlife officials estimate, has grown to exceed 175,000.

我看到的一种解释为：
with后的内容和主句存在一定的主谓关系，主句的主语不一定是with的逻辑主语
with形式与主句主语有紧密的逻辑关系

1中的with明显是与宾语monkey关系更密切
2中的with则与主语deer population有关系，但也不是逻辑主语

如何理解with的使用呢？

with 的逻辑主语是或者不是句子主语的情况都有
把它理解为verb modifier
修饰前面句子的动作就好了

再问一个问题
The economy of Britain grew more slowly in the mid-1970's and declined much more rapidly in the subsequent recession than did the economy of the United States.
这个句子里的did为什么可以提前呢？

可能是我不知道
反正than 后面的比较可倒装可不倒装我一直都知道..

书上只讲more than后面可以倒装，但是没讲为什么倒装。
根据我对外国人的理解，因为他们笨：
The economy of Britain grew more slowly in the mid-1970's and declined much more rapidly in the subsequent recession than did the economy of the United States.
比较的是：The economy of Britain grew more slowly in the mid-1970's and declined much more rapidly in the subsequent recession vs slowly in the mid-1970's and declined rapidly in the subsequent recession did the economy of the United States.发现了吗？把比较的部分留在原位置的话，A vs B 中的A是正常语序（A do sth）而B正好是完全倒装句（sth do B）！这样比较容易看出比较的内容和比较的对象，英语是型合的语言，这正符合了这一点。
而如果than后面不倒装，则变成一个部分倒装句 slowly in the mid-1970's and declined rapidly in the subsequent recession the economy of the United States did.部分倒装句比完全倒装句难懂，因为前面两个名词如果断句错我就会整句逻辑意思错误，而完全倒装则没有这个问题，比较直接（不信你用中文的主谓宾的完全倒装和部分倒装试试就知道了）。
综上所述，你说是不是因为老外笨才这么做的？

这两句都是with+n 的结构，涉及两个用法
用法一：是做后置定语，这个既可以修饰主语，可以修饰宾语
The diet of the ordinary Greek in classical times was largely vegetarian ----- vegetables, fresh cheese, oatmeal, and meal cakes, with meat as a rarity.（修饰主语）

用法二：做原因状语
         eg:With total sales of less than three hundred dollars and fewer new subscribers than last year, the New England
Theatre Company is in danger of losing its building.
         With no natural predators and with expanses of green suburban neighborhoods where there is
no hunting, the deer population in New Jersey, wildlife officials estimate, has grown to exceed 175,000.
用法三： “用”的意思，类似于by
         eg： George Sand(Aurore Lucile Dupin) was one of the first European writers to consider the rural poor
legitimate subjects for literature and to portray them with sympathy and respect in her novels.
