不是NN，说一下我的看法。在最后的从句中simultaneously with和independently of是平行的，用but连接，你可以不看but independently of，这样with后面是the more celebrated city-states。这句话是The first trenches that。。。have yielded。。。 in northern regions of the Middle East that。。。
