Five years ago, as part of a plan to encourage citizens of Levaska to increase the amount of money they put into savings, Levaska’s government introduced special savings accounts in which up to $3,000 a year can be saved with no tax due on the interest unless money is withdrawn before the account holder reaches the age of sixty-five. Millions of dollars have accumulated in the special accounts, so the government’s plan is obviously working.
Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

A. A substantial number of Levaskans have withdrawn at least some of the money they had invested in the special accounts.
B. Workers in Levaska who already save money in long-term tax-free accounts that are offered through their workplace cannot take advantage of the special savings accounts introduced by the government.
C. The rate at which interest earned on money deposited in regular savings accounts is taxed depends on the income bracket of the account holder.
D. Many Levaskans who already had long-term savings have steadily been transferring those savings into the special accounts.

答案D。

我的分析：
政府目的是增加savings，方法是specialaccounts利息免税，结果是special accounts的存款增加，结论是：gov 的plan works。
A，“大量L至少从special account中取部分钱”，？？？
B，“工作地方已经提供长期利息免税存款的工人不能利用政府提供的special account”，这只是一部分群体，不能说明总savings不会增加，排除；
C，“普通account中存款的利息根据户主收入类型征税”，严重无关项，排除；
D，“已经有长期存款的L已经开始逐渐将savings转移到special accounts”，只是转移并没有增加总量，但是这只是部分群体，不能说明总savings不会增加？？；
E，“政策推出时提出批评的许多经济学家表示政府的计划是成功的”，不能weaken，排除。

不知道清楚A怎么排除，D为什么对，小伙伴们怎么看？

楼主，正好我也做到这道题，我来跟你讨论下
政府的目的是为了增加储蓄，从而推出了一种免税存款。结论是大量钱已经存进这些账户了，因此政府的计划是有效的（有效增加了储蓄）
A选项：大量L至少已经从这些特殊账户中取出了部分钱，他们取出的部分只要仍然小于存入特殊账户的部分，那么总存款仍然是增加的吧
B选项（我本来选的是这个）：有些工人本身就有免税存款户，他们享受不到政府特殊账户的好处。你的分析是对的，工人享受不到别人可以享受，其他人乐意多存款了，政府的计划还是有效了。
C、E：无关，不解释了
D：许多已经有长期储蓄账户的人逐渐把储蓄转入了政府账户。这个选项其实我也不太认同。。就像你说的这只是部分群体，可能很多人本来是没有长期储蓄账户的，确实是被政府的计划吸引来存钱的，总存款还是增加的。

我觉得A\D的错误是一样的，都是只考虑了整体中的部分情况。如果一定要在A\D中选一个，选D是因为millions of dollars have accumulated in the special accounts这句紧贴结论，作为提示，“大量的钱在特殊账户中累计”，所以储蓄总量就多了？如果特殊账户里的钱多了，但别的账户里钱少了，总量不一定增加

zealot0823, 我觉得咱们思路差不多，感觉A和D的差别在于程度吧，A强调at least some, D强调many。不过我还是觉得这个题没有正确答案。

嗯。。不算很严谨。。不过GMAT逻辑题么也没必要钻牛角尖。。知道出题人怎么想的就行了。。

也做到这道题的人：
我觉得A选项其实是无关，因为既然ss很多钱累积已经是事实了，那有没有人取钱就无关了（就像既然已知profit增加，那么expense是否增加，都不影响profit增加这个事实）
B也是这个问题。
至于D，其实就是质疑了ss很多钱累积的来源-按照D的逻辑，总量很可能没有太大的增长，所以削弱。

最后一句：millions of dollars 进到了 special accounts，所以计划有效。计划是鼓励市民增加储蓄。
那么原文的逻辑是这样的：因为millions of dollars 进到了 special accounts，所以市民增加了储蓄。

D：已经有长期储蓄的人把存款转移到 special accounts。
也就是说，在 special accounts增加的存款本来就是市民的储蓄， special accounts 的钱增加就不能说明市民增加了储蓄。

A选项没什么影响，前提都说了millions of dollars 进到了 special accounts，不管你取走了多少钱，反正存款总量就是增加了，就不会对推理有所削弱。

我也觉的这道题有争议，本题是因果推理，因为有million 的dollars已经存在 special account上边了，所以政府计划（增加居民存款）是成功的。我们要削弱要么攻击推理本身，要么攻击因，就是miilion dollars存在sp上了并没有达到政府的计划，其中一个表象就是D所描述的，存款只是发生了转移，并没有净增加，sp增加的只是表象。抓住steadliy transfer优于A中的at least some。所以我认为D优于A。

我的理解是，政府的目的是为了增加saving，D选项是说许多居民把原来在另一个账户的saving转移到政府的special account里面，只是实现了saving的再分配，并没有实现saving的增加。

我的理解是政府产生了一个计划，计划无利息税来吸引储户存款，然后结论是政府的计划运行了。
D选项中，说明许多人平稳的从长期存款被转换到了特殊账户中，我理解这个被并不是人们主动被政府的存款吸引了，而有可能是政府联合银行让银行进行了第三方操作，把储户的钱转到了special account ，所以并不能说政府主动吸引了储户，然后就削弱了条件，进而结论就被削弱。

我觉得A选项错的原因在于并没有起到真正的削弱，就算有人withdraw，那也不能说明政府increase account的目标没有working。有时候取非一下往往能够看清~OG的cr解释上也有很多even if的句型
