这题选C，楼主的问题是 A 为什么不可以。可不可以理解为 reporting作伴随状语解释了数据被分析后的影响，那前后两个分句就存在因果关系，因为数据被分析了，因此报告地球。。。这样理解有问题吗？

SVO, + v-ing 的结构里，v-ing作状语修饰语,必须满足以下两点:
1)v-ing修饰(modify)前面从句的整个动作，并且需要适用于(apply to)前面从句的主语;
2)v-ing的动作与主动词同时发生并且附属于主动词;或者v-ing的动作是主动词的直接结果;

A选项里Data变成report的主语了，错。
同时，本句的语义重点在于report, 而不是用reporting去修饰be analyzed. 所以用v-ing不合适。
