最近開始刷PREP2008筆記遇到幾題雖然有解釋但還是不很懂想請問一下各位

whether vs. whether or not 到底怎麼分呢?
...., which + V vs. ..., Ving 要怎麼用?
In an attempt to prpoduce oysters, a firm in Scotland has developed a prototype of a submersible oyster farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean, and it provides ideal conditions for the mollusks' growth.

A. 已經不考慮我的疑問是:

B. farm, sitting below the surface of the ocean for providing
D. famr that sits below the surface of the ocean and provides (正解)
為何B不行呢?

一：whether vs. whether or not 到底怎麼分呢? 当做宾语时必须是whether  做状语是 whether or not

二：which 修饰紧跟前面名词有一个例外就是 A of B，which which可以跳跃修饰A
ing三种用法：1：定语紧跟修饰名词 2：伴随状语  3：状语修饰整个主系表句子

对于：逗号+V-ing出现在句首句中必须跟句子逻辑主语一致
最复杂的是逗号+V-ing出现在结尾（首先根据句意确定 V-ing的作用)
1） V-ing修饰名词时，只能修饰主句主语，主句的谓语必须是Be；
2） V-ing表示伴随状语时，其逻辑主语必是主句主语，即主语主语能够发出V-ing的动作，且V-ing动作发生在主句动作发生的过程内；
3） V-ing表示结果状语时，其没有单纯的逻辑主语，造成V-ing动作的原因是整个主句主谓描述的内容；

4)如果一个V-ing不能起到上述的3个作用中的任何一个的话，那么这个V应该是以谓语的形式出现；
