我对整个题的思路没有异议。
但是D选项中，the kind of curiosity by which new patterns.....can be passed on.....by imitation and practice。
我对两个by有点不理解。把句子整理顺之后就是，new patterns....can be passed on from ...to ...by imitation and practice, and by the kind of curiosity.如果按照原来句子的话这两个by不是重叠了么？passed on既by curiosity又by imitation and practice，如果没有连词and来平行的话岂不是很诡异？
请牛牛指教

第一个by是相当于定语从句的介词前提，第二个by是定语从句里引导方式状语，并不冲突

额...没懂.....
第一个介词是提前，which是定语从句的引导词，但在句子结构中是名词,具体指代curiosity
那么by curiosity, new patterns.... can be passed on ....by imitation and practice。虽然说是定语从句，但是这几个词本身还是在修饰passed on。
我的思路好像有点钻牛角尖了。。。看到一样的结构不平行不舒服斯基。。。

我觉得句子整体大意是猩猩们传递行为靠三种方式 by imitation and practice,and by curiosity 根据平行 by也不能省略

所以这句话是把其中一个平行元素放进主句作为核心句意，然后用从句解释。
