In the mid-1920s the Hawthorne Works of the Western Electric Company was the scene of an intensive series of experiments that would investigate changes in working conditions as to their effects on workers' performance.

答案是B
请问E为啥不对我看有的帖子说E没有what从句中没谓语，但是为什么不能想成what the effects是一起的，一起做have的宾语，就像是我们常说的what effect it would have 或者是what time it is now这种用法、
这样为什么不可以

我的理解是。that本来需要修饰intensive series (宾语），如果用to investigate就无法修饰名词了

你这么一说我好像也找到了一个错误~to investigate的逻辑主语必须是主句主语，但是work不能investigate，所以e就不对了

to investigate的逻辑主语必须是主句主语?这个是为什么啊？
我还以为只是comma+ving的时候才有这个规则

我也不太清楚为什么没有谓语，但是我觉得这个句子最主要的问题是应该从句子意思理解的话，后面应该说是一个怎样的实验，应该休息experiment，这样句子才能表达出intended meaning。我觉得用that从句和分词修饰应该都可行吧，但是只有B的后面表达的更合理。感觉上E选项用that is to investigate蛮舒服的

不知道你记不记得og上有一道题，正确选项是to keep it from 而不选to avoid，答案上就是这么解释的，说主语不可以自己avoid

可能是这样
如果是to investigate 的话就做状语，然后修饰was,然后动作的发出者歧义？。。求高手出现！！！！
