标题: UCSD Rady MBA Skype interview [2014-03-13]
Just got done the interview with JoAnne Starr. It was about one hour long. She was really detail and nice. She told me she was one of the 11 original staffs when the program started back in the day. I can definitely tell she was passionate about UCSD and the direction Rady is going. We briefly chatted about the future about the program and they arecontinually looking to expand and hiring more faculties.

There was no surprises about the interview, Kudos to chasedream about tips for interviewing with JoAnne Starr. She told me upfront she read my profile, and she's going to ask some things relating to my current job function. She told me that my circumstance is unique and that I got my education in the u.s and grow up in the u.s. I have been working both for u.s and foreign companies, so she was drilling me on my background for 15 minutes.

Here are the interview questions

1. Explain to me about your current jobs as the global supply chain director? And what are some of things you like and some of the thing you don't like about your current job?
2. Please give me an example of a time where you lead a well organized team? And a time where you lead a dysfunctional team?
3. What is some of the current technology in your industry, I mention big data, she started talk to me about the course offering rady has and the current faculty who teaches big data.
4. Give me an experience where you dealt with a senior team member or surbordinate or a supervisor?
5. What are some of the books you currently read?
6. What other schools did you apply?
7. What do you like to do in your free time?
8. Talk to me about your travel experience to those less developing coutries where you had to lead projects.
9. What other things you want me to know or learn about?
10. Any questions for her?

She was pretty upfront and honest about everything, I really enjoy the 1 hour interview with her.

Hope this can be useful to others who will be interviewing in the next few weeks with UCSD.

Haha, really love to join you guys. Still have my fingers cross. You guys are super super helpful. One thing I ask her is that they don't have a mba tour like the other programs, and I want to setup some kind of coffee shop chat to help future students to learn more about the program in cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong if I were to admitted in the program, she told me "our Japanese student are ready discipline and really unique, they already setup for ambassador programs, welcoming new students in Tokyo, they even have a banner and have a video from the dean of Rady welcoming them"

Those Japanese ppl,

Rady students are really helpful especially Chinese seniors.

I think that's one of the pros of having a relatively smaller student body----closer relationship between students and alumni, and stronger sense of responsibility to help others from Rady.

I know there're some Japanese ppl in Rady last year, and we may outnumber them in Class2016. Join us!

对了，学校Operation 也不错，在MIT SLOAN’S Annual Operations Management Simulation Competition 里Rady在过去的5年，3次夺冠！

Dude, it's already 99% that you'll be admitted if the admission office told you about the Office of Graduate.

I received my unofficial offer and now still waiting for the final result from the Office of Graduate. I guess patience is what both of us need right now huh? XD

How long will it take them to announce the admission decision and the fellowship? Do they come along together?

I really hope I could got all the necessary information lined up before I could reach a conclusion about USC~~

They are short staff right now. Who's ur interviewer? Usually it's about 4 weeks like the other said in this forum, but my interviewer did ask me about deadlines. She was given me a hint that I can ask for extension at the other school. Maybe they can expedite your request?

As for USC, go with your heart, do what is best for your career. Rather than emotional impulse. If I were choosing UCLA and UCSD, I will choose UCLA, but if it's usc and UCSD. I gotta think about ROI and career advancement afterwards.

I think fellowship award come separate. Anyways, congratulations to all of your offers!!!

I registered my interview time slot online and emailed the admission with my Skype ID as indicated in the interview noticed but only got a automatic confirmation so far....I've been so packed with my work so I just presumed that they know I'll be interviewing via Skype....They didn't say who'll be interviewing me as well...

I've already dropped my deposit with UCI since the deadline couldn't be extended for fellowship receivers as me. Another guy just checked with USC and said the deadline would be May 1st, so I guess I'll have enough time to weigh my options~~~

rady emailed me that who will interview with me without time.... I'm a little confused. i applied M.f. not MBA.

May be it's different for MSF applicants?

Usually they would send you a link to schedule the interview, I think you'd better double-check the mails or contact with AO people.
