标题: 求大神指点~~since为什么不能代替because
The Glass House Mountains in Queensland, Australia, were sighted in 1770 by the English navigator Captain James Cook, bv whom thev were named supposedly because its sheer wet rocks glistened like glass.

这一题的C选项的点评有这样一句： the preposition since loses the important causal logic of the sentence.

since不是也可以表示因果关系的么？为什么这里说用了since就失去了逻辑上的因果关系呢？

求大神指点！！~~

疑问NO.2：

(E) it was not until almost 1900 that scholars and critics seriously began studying

这里D选项，如果改成 it was not until almost 1900 when scholars and critics began seriously to study 的话对么？还是依旧prefer (E)选项呢？

第一题的C说的是important causal logic 。这里有个causal。动词verbing 在句尾，然后前面有逗号的情况，1可以做副词修饰前面动词。2也可以表示作为结果. 这里的causal指的就是第二种情况。一般在表示结果的情况，主句主语会是这个动作的发出者，The Glass House Mountains 如果来发出这个naming的发出者，你觉得还够能读通吗？

第二题，
主要还是句型的问题，It is ...that 就是一个句型，等题目做多了，你就会有感觉。至于你的改选项。。还是尽量别自己去改答案。而且你的seriously放到began后面，反而会有修饰歧义，就是副词seriously去修饰了began，而不是seriously study

对选项B和E中的结构有疑问呐~~撇开其余的错误原因，为什么不能理解为 “, and deriving ”的主语即为 The Achaemenid empire，不是也有 somebody derive A from B 这个说法的么？跪求指点~~TOT

语法其实最后讲究的是语义，如果语义不对的话，就算语法全对还是错的。你说的例子我不敢确定，因为我对idiom这块是最差的。

这个地方你问问自己是The Achaemenid empire of Persia 是 alphabets drive，还是 script是 alphabets的drive。如果是The Achaemenid empire of Persia发出drive这个动作，可以用 comma+ving,但是这个地方你再感受下谁是动作的发出者

since表原因时，为conjunction，后跟从句。

because也是连词，后面也是跟从句

since的因果关系没有because的因果关系强烈一些，since有“既然”的意思，很无奈的原因
