标题: verbal分册里的两个问题
请懂的大神讲一下:
1. independent of和independent from的区别是什么?
   分册里说这两个短语有区别,但是木有详细说。

2. Archaeologists in Ireland believe that a recently discovered chalice, which dates from the eighth century, was probably buried to keep from being stolen by invaders.
    A. to keep from
    B. to keep it from
    C. to avoid
    D. in order that it would
    E. in order to keep from
verbal分册里解释C选项说:This suggests that the chalice acts to prevent its own theft. The pronoun it is needed for clarity.
我不是很理解这句解释的意义,为什么是prevent its own theft呢?
谢谢大神!!

There are actually at least two other relevant forms: the adjective forms "independent of" and "independent from."

"Independent of" means "not influenced by." Most aid decisions are made independent of academic performance.

"Independent from" means "not reliant on," "politically autonomous from" or "free from." Algeria has been independent from France since 1962. Hmm...you decide which meaning applies there.
