标题: LSAT-17-4-18
18. Serval cosmetics firms are committed to the active development, validation, and adoption of new product-safety tests that use cultures of human cells. They argue that the new tests serve to reduce the need for tests on live animals.
The statements above most strongly support which one of the following conclusions?
(A) The pressure on cosmetics firms to cease conducting experiments that use live animals was initiated by groups of social activists.
(B) Consumers are no more likely to buy products whose safety was tested on cultures of human cells than they to buy products whose safety was tested on animals.
(C) Financial consultants for the cosmetics firms believe that using human cell cultures rather than live animals to test product safety will cost the firm less in actual product-development costs.
(D) Researchers in the cosmetics firms believe that fewer tests of products will be needed if cell cultures rather than live animals are used.
(E) Managers of the cosmetics firms believe that it is better for their firms not to perform tests on live animals if there is an acceptable alternative way of determining product safety.
答案:E
我选的C,为什么原文支持E,而没有支持C,是因为C的Financial consultant是无关信息吗?

C错在cost the firm less。原文没有这方面的信息。E实际是原文的换一种说法。alternative way 是指new product-safety tests

理解了,还是粗心了,读题的时候还特意看了active development, validation and adoption of new product-safety tests,结果到看选项的时候就没留意了。谢谢lawyer.

18. Serval cosmetics firms are committed to the active development, validation, and adoption of new ...
If cosmetics firms are committed to the new product safety test ---> it must be that use cultures of human cells --->
New product safety test ---> reduced the need for test on life animals
SO, Reduce the need for test on life animals ---> it must be that use culture of human cells.
Let us dive into the options
A. Not relevant
B. If we eliminate " No " in B, then it could be our must be true necessary assumption question answer.
C. There are not any evidence really relevant to the cost issue.
D. So, If use cell cultures, researchers in the cosmetics firms believe that fewer tests of products will be needed
Think in this way, do we really need to know if none or few of the tests of the products will be needed ?
And how can we even come up with the point like this ?
E. If there is an acceptable alternative way of determining product safety, managers of the cosmetics firms believe that it is better of their firms not to perform on life animal.
( If it is better of their firms to perform on life animal ---> there must not a acceptable alternative )
But now they " do ", and so, the test could really reduce the need for test on live animals.
Correct answer
