标题: 选校求助 Kellogg (with $90k) vs. MIT Sloan (w/o scholarship)
本人女，28, 美本，３年healthcare VC (Bay Area), 2年biotech marketing/strategy经验 (Shanghai and Bay Area, manager level), 毕业后想去management consulting/product management (healthcare or IT), long-term想创业/做VC。Round 1申请了５所，rejected by H/S/W, In@ Kellogg (with $90k) and MIT Sloan (w/o scholarship)

想听听各位真诚的意见应该如何选择。非常感谢！

补充：也申请了Tuck EA, 录取没有奖学金，虽然Tuck也很心仪，但是因为本科学校类似，想去个大点的学校所以准备不去了。如果你被Tuck waitlist了请联系我，也许我可以帮到。

My understanding is that the both schools are big on collaboration, are equal in ranking, and have almost equal alumni presence in Bay Area (where my boyfriend is). And I'm trying not cloud my judgement with the undeniably very generous scholarship offered by Kellogg (almost equal to $130k pre-tax income). My own thoughts:

Kellogg:
pros: More well-rounded and esp. strong in general management (which opens door to almost any career options other than maybe finance), larger and more engaged alumni network, looks more fun and stylish..
cons: weaker in finance (given my long-term goal to go back to investment), weaker on the analytical/quantitative side

MIT Sloan:
pros: stronger parent institution (more likely to meet potential business partners from engineering schools, for example), stronger in tech/biotech entrepreneurship, Boston!
cons: weaker in areas outside of tech entrepreneurship...weaker training on soft skills (that's just my initial impression but I could be totally wrong..)

I will visit both schools in February and would really appreciate more of your input in the meantime (esp. if you are a current student/alum of either school). Thanks!!

两个都是牛逼学校，我是申master的本科小孩儿就不跟着瞎掺和了，在申MIT MFin，对男神买买提都是爱。

不过看lz的cg，觉得短期目标似乎K更好，长期目标的话虽说好似Sloan更好，但是lz可再工作的时候为长期目标做极其充足的准备，加之K给了好多钱，故我的话会选K。

另外我觉得lz也可以考虑和学校的culture，我不太了解K，但肯定和Sloan不一样我相信。。。所以看lz觉得哪里更fit了。

PS lz我现在在一VC实习，最近也在看些mHealth的项目，对Healthcare也很想多学习了解，如果可以的话可否加Q，我私信你~ 谢谢

两家我比较偏好Sloan, 对Kellogg不感冒.
不过不可否认两家都是top schools, you can't go wrong with either one, so with the money I'd take Kellogg, unless 90k means nothing to you and you have a special thing for Sloan (then you won't be asking this question here)... So Kellogg it is.

可不是。。。这奖学金大概在学校历史上都没先例吧！
何况K在PE/VC的presence也很强。

Vote for MIT. I went to both info sessions and the alumni from Sloan are in a completely different league (much much higher) compared those from Kellogg. MIT means something. You want to carry that brand name for your whole life.

Hey there!

First of all, I'm glad you have such a wonderful problem!!! I bet you many on this site are jealous of this "problem". I think your self-analysis is very good, and honestly, my temptation would be to go with Kellogg. Usually I always tell people NOT to go for the money, but rather to go for the better school, but here all the schools are more or less at the same level (arguments can be made here and there), and 90K is HUGE!!!!

But I think you are making the wisest choice by visiting the schools first before you make your decision, but still leaving Bschool with so little debt is very very attractive!

If you are indeed committed to entrepreneurship in long run, MIT is a no-brainer. The parent institution( I mean HYPSM level) weighs far more than an MBA degree that just brings a chance of landing a consultant/banker job. Of course, that's exactly what many CDers are pursuing.

Believe me, Sloan opens you a door to some truly amazing, hard-science technologies with the potentials of changing the landscape of mankind. And even more so than those from Stanford.

If your are not so keen on entrepreneurship, then $90K and two years of cozy life are definitely something to consider.

By the way, the essentials to be a good venture capitalist are guts and vision, rather than financial modeling and quantitative skills, though they matter as well. Domain expertise is vital too, while wide network is needed in either PE or VC.

我现在也在做VC。我长期目标是entrepreneur.

CD上很多人，我觉得太肤浅，没想明白很多事情。我不是指楼主啊。

Don't get me wrong... Kellogg is a great school with great alums.
Its name is highly reputable and decent in US. If I were to walk a typical MBA path, say consulting/banking/corporate etc., I might lean more to Kellogg over Sloan, not to mention my personal favor for a team-based and laid-back culture.

But if the goal is to have an EDUCATION(more than bschool education) experience and gain resources(especially engineering and technology) to leverage in the future, Sloan,or more importantly, MIT has more to offer.

前辈好！如果将来想做Investment，真的还是选MIT吧，校友资源和业内名声都好很多。不过西北Kellogg在香港挺学长学姐说很好使得。我也不是很懂，祝求学工作都顺利！

谢谢各位的高见。我最后选择了Kellogg。金钱的力量是巨大的。另外，Kellogg的network很大也很适合我，也纠结过K校parent institution的名气和在创业圈子和金融行业的相对弱势，但最后我想除非是HBS/Stanford，其他学校都会有这样那样的不足。希望不会后悔啊！

lz这么优秀的经历，能说下为何面试后会被H/S/W拒了么？lz的英语应该也很好，想不出他们不收你的理由。。。

海外工作n年，非consulting非银行
