标题: 关于which是否能引导非限制性定语从句的问题。
曼哈顿里面有这样一个句子，是problem set里的东西

Of all the earthquakes in European history, the earthquake, which destrQyed Lisbon in 1755, is perhaps the most famous.

显然这个句子是不对的，加了逗号的which变成了非限制性定语从句。
但是曼哈顿给的更改建议是 WE MUST 去掉逗号并且把which 改成 that
去掉逗号是肯定的，但是which有必要更改成that吗。我在网上查了一下which也可以引导限制性定语从句，那为什么一定要把which改成that呢？

In Gmat, which can not be a essential relative pronoun. That is to say, you cannot use which without comma .

Some writers follow the convention that whichcan only be used for nonrestrictive clauses, but insistence on this rule is controversial,

您好，这是我今天在OG review里面看到的原话，好像GMAT不以这个为原则。

由此是否可以见得曼哈顿在这个问题身上的观点和GMAC~至少OG12的时候~的观点是不一样的呢？

In Ron's lecture, he said" the basic rule of which is they modifies NOUNs that PRECEDES THE COMMA".

"which" by it self must follows a comma.

"prep + which" may or may not follow a comma.

确实我检查了OG13，所有的which都加了逗号，to which 或者 in which都不接逗号。看来Gmat还是在使用的时候默认单独的which只做非限定性修饰。~~谢谢~~
