新74旧174 AGRUMENT
In this argument, the president concludes that Grove College begin a coeducation policy encouraging men admitting to college will increase in enrollment. But the director defends its recommendation citing through keeping the college all females would be more representative in Grove, the survey of incoming students and alumina respondents reported that they favor all female education. I find the argument unconvincing on several aspects
As presented, the author presented no evidence that the results of either of the two surveys are statistically reliable. The president hopes to boost enrollment by admitting men. Other female college, for instance, have receive increased applicants upon opening the doors to men. There two lines of questioning suggest themselves. First, does Groves need an increase in admissions? How many are its dorms and classrooms? Would a size in enrollment require costly new construction?
The other line of questioning is the fact that other females colleges increasing enrollment after coeducation, it would also occur in Grove College? The enrollment policy might affect many phenomenon, for example, since Grove in favor of changing the policy, perhaps, the change would improve faculty moral and the quality of education, but applicants recognize the declining quality of education, the applicant might not attend to Grove.
Turning now to the director of aluminate, the director points keeping the college all females, therefore, will improve morale among students, but the director provides no evidence that the results of either of the two groups are statistically reliable, we need to ask ,who composed the administered the survey?perhaps, new students tends to be counter with all female. It is entirely possible that students who seldom be absent or late for school were willing to participate in the survey than others. As a result, without evident that survey is unreliable, the director cannot justifiably draw any conclusion by relying on this survey. Next, the director tell us the student and alumnae “strongly oppose ”admitting men, but what did they say? How representative a sample do we have these alumnae? Did they write letters? Did they e-mail? Perhaps, one can ask “why listen to these students or aluminates?” a neglected voice in all this is students currently in attendance. They, after all ,will have the experiment’s brunt. Or students stay for only four years, a professorship for it life time. It is the profession who will have to live with the change the longest , is there any preponderance of opinion in this quarter?
In conclusion ,to bolster its argument the resident must provide better evidence to suppose both of the president and the director ,if the survey can receive right answers, the argument about the traditional character of college might admit of numerical resolution.
