正确答案是D，我的问题是：1. B选项先不考虑其错误地方，这样的语法结构相对于D是不是更简明呢？
2. 这里的both为什么不能理解为源于tradition of Willie 和 duke 呢？需要给duke前加上tradition吗？

3. 1）有很多句子会有这样的结构，主语+同位语+谓语，简洁程度上两种都差不多；

但我认为这里还是将Jazz pianist and composer前置好，因为后置很容易引起歧义，使读者认为主语是三个人：Thelonious Monk， the Jazz pianist and composer
所以你认为的简明，简和明都不具备；

2）首先浅层面上看，both and 讲究平行，请你看下放在这里平行吗？
第二，请你仔细分析句子的意思，文中rooted 仅仅只在in the stride-piano tradition这里，（详见OG解释）如果你要加both，请这样加： in the stride-piano tradition of both Willie (The Lion) Smith and Duke Ellington。

4. spoke是谓语动词
