答案是B, 可是为什么appear不是past tense, 已经是过去的事了啊？

"appear" is the verb relative to which sequencing needs to be established=seem. 这里是一个tricky，我一开始看的时候也没有理解。★appear=seem"看来，似乎"，与后句的indicates时态一致。

这里是陈述一个现象，用一般现在式表达过去、现在、将来都一直是“看起来如此”，如果用过去式表示现在和以后都不存在appear的内容了。所以用现在时态比较符合语义。类似科学发现等要配一般现在时态
