答案是D. 我的问题是原句中的only在D 中丢失了.

A 为什么不对? 是不是因为有指代California之嫌?

我觉得only在这里不是关键. A中的which指代了Califonia, 使整个句子意思错误.

请高人讲讲 D 的用法。在这里D如果是现在分词，却不是表伴随方式和伴随结果，可是放在句末做定语修饰non-Hispanic Whites ，平常没见过。

A, B, C 一看就错，因为amount的主语是non-Hispanic Whites，所以amount只能是用复数，

E中，down from what it was a decade ago by nearly three-quarters, 是说人口数量减少了原来的3/4,不符合题义

amounting我觉得就是和are并列的一个动词，主语就是non-Hispanic Whites。

我认为E中it 指代不明确。it前有多个单数名词。

i agree with u. A is awkward in refering to california.

I don't think we have to adhere to the original sentence word by word.
