C为什么不对 performance 和preparation平行，作enhance的宾语不可以吗？

(E) are geared toward enhancing the performance of athletes and preparing them

Look for the subject here, Programs should be the subject, so the verb should be plural, we elinimate A,B

And we also find "and" so the parellel structure should be......................and.......................
C: verb+noun...and....noun, wrong
D: noun...and....prep+verbing, wrong
E: verbing+noun....and.....verbing+noun

C 可不可以这么理解 verb+（noun...and....noun）这样两个名词并列，或者 verb+noun...and (verb省略)+noun
就像 I like A and B 不能说成I like A and like B 吧？

enhance athletes' performance and their preparation.....That doesn't make sense

We can say enhance performance, but we can't say enhance preparation, so that is the main problem here
