标题: OG13 语法第五十题求教！！！！
Acooring to some analysts, the gains in the stock market reflect growing confidence that the economy will avoid the recession that many had feared earlier in the year and instead come in for a "soft landing," followed by a gradual increase in business activity.

答案是a.
但我不太明白为什么解释里说， instead后面省略了will. 什么情况下可以省略呢。
然后，解释里说，the economy to avoid the recession 这种说法是unclear的，为什么
求大神解答！！！感激不尽啊啊啊啊！！！！

个人觉得，第一个that是修饰confidence的，而第二个that是修饰recession的直到year，followed by 是修饰“soft landing”的属于干扰项直接忽略，那么题目的主要结构应该是confidence that the economy will aviod the recession and instead (will) come in for a "soft landing"，这其实属于parallelism，对于and来说 will aviod … and will come …以及aviod … and come …都可行并行，所以题目里面说忽略了“will”。
至于说the economy to avoid the recession这句话，economy是属性，他不会主动avoid这么说有点怪，我觉得avoid应该是一种能力或者是行为。至于BD选项的话，B中的what，D中的many … 都造成了语义上的混乱。
所以综上只有A是最优选择。

I think you should grasp the intended meaning, which is they have the confidence that the economy.........., not economy's ability. That doesn't make any sense.

So we elinimate C immediately.
the recession that many had feared earlier this year. I think "had" here make sense, because people had felt this feeling before the things (.................) The previous sentence desrcibed.
So, we go with A

The key thing, I think, is what does the confidence come from, I mean what cause us gain confidence, economy? economy alone doesn't cause us gain confidence. It is the the economy will avoid the recession-this whole thing causes us regain confidence, right? so it makes sense.

这道题og的解释说：D in the economy to avoid the recession many were fearing earlier in the year, and rather to come
the recession that many were fearing中的that一定不能少
限定性定语从句当先行词是从句的宾语时，不是可以省略么？
求教！多谢！

Option A is correct in this case. The split is between "That" and "in" + "Will avoid" and "to avoid"
Now not considering the portion" growing confidence" we get ..... "the gains in the stock market reflect ..... that the economy will avoid...."
Therefore its either A or E.

The past perfect form had feared is used to keep the logical flow of events. The sequence is jumbled up in the original sentence but can be read like following:
" many had feared earlier in the year" (Past perfect - had feared economy will slow down in past) ....... ( implicit past - economy recovered ) "the gains in the stock market reflect growing confidence" (present - reflect confidence now) ...... "the economy will avoid the recession" (future)

The Past Perfect expresses the idea that something occurred before another action in the past. It can also show that something happened before a specific time in the past. - people feared that economy will slow down but stopped fearing after it recovered.

I hope I am correct. Please let me know your views on this.

有个地方很奇怪,A说的是economy will avoid recession 就是对的,B说economy to avoid the recession就是类似主谓不一致,economy无法做出avoid的错误. 那么,就因为一个will的出现,就消弭了economy无法做出动作的错误吗?

many had feared earlier in the year修饰的是recession, 意思是很多人在上半年很担心的经济紧缩
reflect是主句的谓语，主句是说股市的收益reflect一个增长的信心that…经济会避开很多人在上半年很担心的经济紧缩…（同位语）fear这个动作发生在eariler in the year
