这题根据平行还是可以选对的，但是有个问题求教：
Less successful...是倒装句吗？为什么之后不需要and等连词来连接后面两个完整句子呢，不会成为run-on sentence吗？

E． A comma is insufficient to join two independent clauses into a single sentence; past-perfect tense is misleading, since it refers to J’s experience in New York, which in fact followed her experience in Germany.

仔细看了语法笔记里面的解释，The phrase less successful anticipates the conclusion of the comparison with the phrase than… . 应该是前面变成了定语，修饰后面的主句，不存在前后两个句子的关系了
