I think the right answer is E.

Whereas E changed the structure to turned away from ... and wrote ..., completes the parallel of two verbs, and is more close to the logical meaning. This parallel of two verbs also make the sentence more balanced. Although B also adopts this correct structure, the "She..., and novelist Selma" creates redundancy of the subjects. Thus, only E is the best answer.

A的Turning away,分词作状语有伴随的意思~而实际上应该是先转型再获奖~另外就是1909的位置会产生歧义,误以为是1909年的第一位女性作家.
D的同位结构也是ETS的PREFERENCE啊~
turning away 表示持续 这里我觉得不对 这个动作应该是过去的动作 用turned away
为了不改变句子的重心 用一个who定语从句来引出turned away
如果把turned away直接作为句子的谓语 就改变整个句子重心

10楼的解释一语中的，排除了A.B,E还有就是修饰语应尽量靠近主语，结构：修饰语，主语，修饰语。。。
我觉得A的注意错误在于用分词的话就必须注意其逻辑主语是否正确，turning away....,in 1909 sl...这个1909的位置明显就是错误的。FYI
