原题 (OG13, Q35): by 1940, the pilot A held seventeen official national and international speed records, and she earned them at a time when aviation was still so new for many of the planes she flew to be of dangerously experimental design.
其中B选项是: earning them at a time that aviation was still so new for many of the planes she flew to be
对此OG上的解释是: the word earning takes the pilot herself, not the records, as its subject. However, earning is close to the records, not to the pilot A, making this sentence hard to process.
the pilot A held seventeen official national and international speed records,earning...
首先earing不是held的伴随动作同时发生修饰主语和谓语动词(例如she went out,singing a beautiful song),因此排除2);
