标题: OG13 Q76 求大家指教
Q76: combining enormaous physcial strength with higher intelligence, the Neanderthals appear as equipped for facing any obstacle the environment could put in their path, but their relatively sudden disappearance during the Paleolithic era indicates that an inavility to adapt to some environmental change led to their extinction."

correct answer: (B) appear to have been equipped to face any obstacle the environment could put in their path

正確答案中使用了"appear to have been equipped",雖然根據講解中的"appear"要用現在時和"equipped to face"已經可以看出答案要選B,但是爲什麽要用"appear to have been equipped"呢? 可以說"appear as equipped to" 呢?

求大家指教!

appear as equipped 不好
√Imperfactions APPEAR AS tiny cracks（=show up as）
×He APPEARS AS confused./ The dinosaurs APPEARED AS smart.

不可以
后面indicates也是现在时，appear要与之平行，另表现它是现在的线索（虽然是关于历史情况）

再仔细体会了一下，因为有disappeared, 所以不能用equipped。而本来应该是had been equipped, 但是是在appear to后面所以had要用原形，所以就变成了appear to have been equipped.对么？

为什么要用过去完成时…用现在完成时就好了呀
是因为disappeared 所以不能用现在时要用完成时
"appear as ADJ" is unidiomatic; the correct version is "appear to be ADJ", or, if someone/something was ADJ in the past, "appear to have been ADJ".

但是'eqquiped'不是现在时，是过去时阿。

这里equipped不是过去式…是一个固定搭配
现在时：He is equipped with much experience in teaching.

ａｐｐｅａｒ的时态是观察者时态　不是执行时态　实意动词时态由ａｐｐｅａｒ后面的动词　表现　个人理解

thanks... it took me quite some time to understand.

and didn't know we can change the tense of those "to be/do" structure....
