67. Several industries have recently switched at least partly from older technologies powered by fossil fuels to new technologies powered by electricity. It is thus evident that less fossil fuel is being used as a result of the operations of these industries than would have been used if these industries had retained their older technologies.

答案是E项，可是E项为什么说fossil fuel generate electricity呢？older technologies powered by fossil fuel和new tech powered by electricity 应该新旧技术各自依靠的power不一样么？大神求指导啊！

我觉得题目的意思是旧技术靠的是fossil fuel，新技术靠的是electricity，但是题目种隐藏了一个前提，就是electricity是要靠fossil fuel产生的，所以能不能减少fossil fuel的使用量就得比较旧技术所需的fossil fuel和electricity所需的fossil fuel

It is thus evident that less fossil fuel is being used as a result of the operations of these industries than would have been used if these industries had retained their older technologies.
这说明了这些工厂使用新技术减少了化石燃料的使用

E.The amount of fossil fuel used to generate the electricity needed to power the new technologies is less than the amount that would have been used to power the older technologies.
新技术使用电力，而火力发电使用的化石燃料< 旧技术使用的化石燃料
如果旧技术要使用100吨燃料，新技术要100度电力，但如果发电100度需要花掉120吨燃料，结论就不成立，反之成立。

其实回答你的问题应该就是，火力发电。
新技术使用的电力，也是从化石燃料转化来的，等于加入了火力发电这一步骤。

这样一说我理解了。可是自己第一次看题不知道电靠油生这个前提岂不是很吃亏。。。

谢谢。可是第一次看题根本没看出来火生电这个前提。不知道这个前提真的好亏啊。

我第一次做也没想到但是前面的选项都可以排除，看到E就想到啊如果火力发电的话就是这个情况……
所以一开始不知道也没关系看到选项再判断XD
