A选项，除去其他错误，只对独立主格来说，这种用法有错误么，能起到补充说明的作用么

只考虑语法，没错误
Manhattan里对group modifier的例句如下，第一句是定语从句，后两句是独立主格
独立主格简言之就是 n+ -ing/-ed/介词结构/adj

我看这个句子，nearly 99 percent of them vanishing 的确是能起到补充说明的意思，i walke through the path,swinging my hands. 关键vanishing 强调的是current 状态，显然这个句子体现的是99%的物种在经过漫长时间之后消失了。显然句子构造就不对。希望有所帮助。
