想问下：complex life-forms emerged much earlier than previously thought这个比较结构是省略了什么内容吗？一直不太擅长比较结构，能不能帮我分析一下这个句子的结构？

前面的digging...china修饰的只能是人，所以后面句子的主语是scientists而不是evidence。
后面suggesting that从句里用动词emerge比用名词emergence更简洁，所以选C。
个人感觉than (scientists) previously thought吧。
