标题: OG13 SC 43题求救！

我刚做这题，觉得很困惑。og解释里说这里的comparison必须是between the land area of laos and the land area of gp的，not the land area of laos and britain, 这我就不懂了，题目里未划线部分能够比较的就是laos啊，
所以按道理应该是国家和国家相对比啊，因为未划线处“laos has a land area”就是一个简单句子，并未写成the land area of laos，那为什么在后面选项做两者之间的comparison时就自动理解成是land area of laos与各选项比较了呢？

我是这样判断比较对象的：看比较词并根据句意，本题中比较词是the same as，两个国家完全相同是说不通的，应该是两个国家的面积相同。
我也总找不好比较对象是什么，这是做了些题自己悟出来的，求指正~

yes你的理解是对的

这题主要看的是句子意思，因为有but

所以你要确定是地广和人稀的转折，而不是其他不合理的转折

摁窝感觉你说的非常有道理，主要是一看到比较题，就去找看是名词人物比较还是一件事或动作比较，所以这道题还是要看句意！

还有一个小问题，c选线many of them 这个象them这样的代词的referent是不是不能是介词短语中的名词的？比如population is the noun of "a population of only four million people" 所以them就无法指代population？这个点一直没搞清。。。

不是的。them应该指代people,population的意思太抽象了。

OG是这样解释的：The phrase about the population of Laos is most clearly and effectively expressed in an appositive using a relative pronoun to refer back to people rather than the more abstract population.

下面这个题目是一道Prep，正确答案C. them修饰介词短语中的名词women.

哦！谢谢亲~ 我好像明白一点了，them指代的确实是people，以及亲举例里them指代的就应该是women吧，这个是根据句意判断的对吗？^_^ 还有个地方扯不清。。原题them指代people，为什么many of them是错误的many of whom这种表达是正确的呢？

OG并没有说many of them是错误的；OG说“The referent of them is unclear.”

单纯比较C和E的指代，明显E更加好。因为many of whom只能直接指代前面的people，没有歧义，而them可以指代在它前面的任何名词，所以unclear.

many可以指代前面的任何名词？可是前面只有people是复数啊指代population的话也是应该用it吧我就搞不懂为什么说many是unclear的希望再指导一下

我的理解是OG这里的解释不太对。
Them没有指代问题，就指people，有问题的是many of them。
注意many of them are...结构有主语也有谓语，是一个independent clause，但是在和另一个句子（前句）连接的时候居然没有任何连词，仅用一个逗号就隔开了，标准的run-on sentence，错误。
