Thanks for sharing this book. However, it seems that something is not quite clear listed as follows:
The author made mistakes in both TOEFL and GRE. What about the rest of the book?
I may be wrong. The rest of book seems interesting.
Again, chelseayang, thanks for sharing with this interesting book with unique insight.

Not everything in the story is accuarate. The author came to the States in the 80s (if i remember right) when very few Chinese did. He might be not as well informed of those tests as we do, or the tests were different back then. However, the rest of the stories is believable. Besides, even his career building story may sound a little bit out of date to us. A Wall Street Chinese lawyer may have writen a more intersting story. Unfornately, such stories are rare.

I think it is an excellent story. It somehow reminds me of another Chinese narrative written in the early 1990's It talked about the story of a Chinese woman in America. I remember reading it on the newspapers more than 10 years ago.

With more and more Chinese in America, the stories must get more diverse and more interesting with time.

Exactly.I knew those books ages ago.another book, the Manhattan's Chinese woman, written by Ms zhou, motivated and me greatly when I was a little girl.I still remember that night after reading her whole story, how excited I was so that can't fall asleep.Although later I learned that kinda story had been exaggerated more or less, it is still a good cheering book for us young persons in my eyes, like some good novels. Thanks for sharing, I think I will read it again rather than waste my time on watching TV.
